Justin Miller needs to focus on defensive. The more times we can get the ball in Leon's hands in the open field the better.
as a Jets player: Kick Returns 36 returns 833 yards 23.1 avg. 1 TD Punt Returns 91 returns 890 yards 9.8 avg. 1 TD
I love Leon Washington's play from whatever position they let him play from a long time ago at FLA State. Last year he was a good as they would let him be. I think he is a man in harmony with his skill sets and we have only seen the beginning. But right now he is not up to Gayle Sayers or Deion either. Give him a chance to show his stuff, there is plenty of time to call attention to his success. This pictorial is a bit too much glad-handing for my taste.
I don't remember what the other guys name was but he was also a Johnson... ironically they called the tandem Johnson & Johnson. I always thought JoJo Townsell was a great KR for us but I was a kid and I just loved the name. Had a really cool ring to it.
Sikahema was a mediocre kickoff returner. His career average was 21.0 and his longest return was 52 yards. He was a very good punt returner, however.
Cribbs has been a tremendous returner. He was a major reason why Cleveland had a winning record in 2007.
big arguments can be made that any of these guys should have made the top 15- Hall of Famer Ollie Matson Hall of Famer Bobby Mitchell Mel Gray Rick Upchurch Terrence McGee Timmy Brown Abe Woodson Terry Metcalf Jack Christiansen (twice as many PR TDs as Sikahema, but did it with 207 fewer returns) My choices for top four returners of all-time- Gale Sayers, Ollie Matson, Travis Williams, and Devin Hester
Johnson & Johnson, Leon & Curtis. Leon was a favorite of mine as well but typical jets luck a guy w/ that talent gets hurt and ruins his career. If he doesn't get hurt in '98 we don't get Meggett and nmaybe we catch that KO in the title game. Who knows how different thing could have been? KORs: 22.2(23.1 w/ NYJ) avg. w/ 1 TD and as a PR a 9.5 average(9.8 w/ NYJ) and 1 TD. As a rookie in '97 he averaged 26.6 on KORs w/ 1 TD and 12.1 on PRs w/ 1 TD.
I had posted the info below in a different thread a while back: the different # of return men that returned kicks/punts for TDs for us since Westhoff came aboard in '01: Chad Morton 2 KOR Santana Moss 2 PR(plus 1 in postseason) Jonathan Carter- KOR Jericho Cotchery KOR Justin Miller- 3 KOR Leon Washington- 3 KOR 10 KR TDs and 2 PR TDs in 6 seasons is pretty amazing although from '97-'00 we had success as well as Leon Johnson had a KR and PR TD, Aaron Glenn had 1 and kevin Williams had 1. Since 1997 we have had a total of 16 KO or PR TDs, prior to 1997 our last PR for a TD was 1990(Terance Mathis' record setting 98 yarder against Dallas) and our last KOR TD was 1986(I believe it was Bobby Humphery at Cincy in Dec of '86 during our 5 game losing streak to end the year).
I thought he was mentioned but I guess not, I think I am confusing this thread w/ the countdown thread. Anyway, JoJo as KR: 20.9 average, 1 TD JoJo as PR: 10.7 average, 2 TDs He was a much better PR than KR. I believe his last PR TD was week 15 against Indy in 1988.
