IMHO with 2nd & 3rd tier players such as Ellis, Coleman, Barton, Barrett, Poteat, Kassal just to name a few + how well Pace & Jenkins adjust to there new roles I really doubt we are anywhere near close to a SB winning D.
OK...3 of the 6 players you listed are more than likely back-ups, one is a long time Jet who's been a borderline pro bowler on more than once occassion(Ellis), the other led the NFL in tackles among DL last season and came highly reccomended by parcells(Coleman). Is this the best you can do to further your agenda?
Regret that you do not rate all the players I have denoted as 2nd or 3rd tier players. Just because they are with the team a long time or recommended by BP or "near" pro bowl does not make them 1st tier players
You know what they say about arguing with an idiot Kurt? They drag you down to thier level and then beat you with experince. You may as well give up on debbie downer there.
I think you're article is overly-optimistic, but I like it. You bring up some good points and this defense will drastically be improved. Having said that, I see a lack of depth in that secondary. From Revis and Rhodes to whomever ends up playing next to, there is going to be a significant drop-off in talent. I think this could be made more poignant by spread-offenses forcing the Jets to field a nickel package.
top 10 Defense, maybe near the top 5 in the AFC. We will see 3 and outs this year, as long as Bob Sutton doesn't call too many plays.
