You didn't post any yards per completion stats, did you? Anyway, you're completely ignoring what I'm saying so I can see it's pointless trying to talk to you. Again, if Chad threw 3 20+ passes and completed 2 for 25 yards each and Clemens threw 10 20+ passes and completed 5 for 25 yards each, Chad would have a better YPA with 16.66 vs Clemens' 12.5. Chad would end up with a better completion percentage and YPA but would have only gained 50 yards while Clemens lesser completion percentage and YPT gained 125 yards. Which would you rather have? I'm not going to attempt to explain it again. You figure it out.
jade is obviously ignoring the fact that Clemens generated more long completions, as witness his higher YPC number. Chad had a higher YPA attributable solely to his higher completion %. Which is to his credit. But the average per attempt by passing distance is hardly an indication of either arm strength or NUMBER of attempts down the field. As one person noted above, Chad only attempts long passes when the receiver is open. Sometimes you have to cut it a little tighter if you want to get it down the field, like throwing to the player's outside even if he's well covered to the inside. Chad cannot do that because his throws do not have enough speed. Another factor is that teams put their defenders closer to the line with Chad in there. They know he is averse to throwing it down field. That will increase the percentage of times that receivers downfield will be poorly covered than when the D plays back.
I under stand what you both are saying, but WSW you are speculating on all those figures, so at this point it means nothing. I went back and checked, the only stats I found were the ones I posted, and I do not have the time right now to search for the attempts or the YPC. I did not post the stats to try and and say Chad has s stronger arm strength as BB is obviously ignoring, that is ridiculous. I never disputed who has a stronger arm, so why make this up? The fact that Clemens averaged less yards per attempt on deep throws with a stronger arm, then Chad did with a weaker one, while he averaged more yards per attempt on short throws than Chad did, is some what alarming. The stats do not tell who gained more total yardage, but it does show who averaged more yards per attempt making short, mid and deep range throws. Surprisingly Chad averaged more yards per attempt on the longer throws, and I clearly stated that reflected accuracy not arm strength, which anybody with a brain knows Kellen is and needs to work on. WSW you are right, though it is not worth discussing, because it gets twisted into an arm strength accusation which it clearly is not. Like I said over and over, I'm glad it's so easy to be down on Chad and high on Clemens, but if he starts solely because Chad stinks, and not because he is that much better than we are still no where. Unfortunately from what I have read on the OTA's right now it's more of Chad sucking than it is of Clemens rocking, he is not even pulling away from the horrible Chad, that SUCKS!!!
"Surprisingly Chad averaged more yards per attempt on the longer throws, and I clearly stated that reflected accuracy not arm strength, which anybody with a brain knows Kellen is and needs to work on." If you spent more time reading and hopefully understanding other people's posts you might become a better poster. Accuracy is NOT the only explanation for ypa on long throws, as has now been noted several times. It could reflect differences in the defensive sets the respective Qb's draw, and whether the Qb tends to limit long throws to when the receiver is more open than the other Qb accepts.
I'm not disputing, that but it requires allot of speculation, all I know is I can distinctly remember Clemens having bad accuracy on a number of throws. Just worry about your posting, you make stuff up an insinuate stuff that's not there, like the trying to say I was equating this to arm strength, how ridiculous. If that's good I don't want any part of it, besides I have bigger fish to fry than mastering posts, I'll leave that to you. Bottom line, with those stats Kellen is not leading us much farther and the OTA reports today suggest that neither QB looks all that sharp, how encouraging.
Yup, so how do you interpret the fact that neither QB looked all that sharp in the OTA's? One sucks, and the other can not pull away, I'm so excited!!!
I'm not bashing Chad to make Kellen look good. I'm bashing Chad because he is not good and we need to find an alternative..
Chad is bashed because his play has made him worthy of being bashed. His bashing has nothing to do with Kellen. Kellen didn't light it up, his accuracy was not good and he has alot to learn and with said he still played better than chad under worse circumstances last year. Chad gets bashed because the People who bash him want to win a Sb and he is not the answer and we know it is time to move on and for some insane reason the organization and some fans love a Qb that is no better than Rex Grossman.
As bad as Kellen played at time he was not even in the General Vicinity of Chad. To watch Chad behind Center throwing pix six's and hanging receivers out to dry last year was beyond disgusting! I would have rather had Tui or even Vinny for that matter!
