If any of our o linemen go down we are more than screwed. Olivea is a young kid who looked great his first couple years and then dropped off because of a back injury. If hes healthy I think he will be a starter again in this league. Hopefully we sign him for depth purposes.

ya i think taht's pretty much the consensus on this board... no harm in signing experienced guys at least till the end of TC, especially if they are young, while adding depth... gotta love this offseason right now.

Olivea is young, has the potential to be a stud and if he were to sign with the Jets, he would already have his run-blocking down; he played for one of the better run-blocking teams in the Chargers.

And he has a 90+ rating in Madden!

Hopefully Jets' OL can be solidified by next season. They will have to draft a OL or perhaps sign a young F.A. OL or both. Jets' still need 3/5 of an OL. D'Brick & Mangold are only young OL on team as of now. Faneca has this season & maybe next left in him. Jets' need a young LG, a young RG to upgrade Moore & a quality young RT. Then the Jets' will stay competitive for the coming years.

Faneca is only 31. He's probably got a good 3 years in him at least.

Iunno...I'll wait to see how our OL plays out before I consider it a major priority over the next 3 or so years.

Our Right side still is very medicore. I don?t say, OL will be a pressing need, but a RT will definitly be something to look for next offseason.

  11. Keep in mind we have 2 developmental guys behind Woody w/ some upside in Bender and Garner. Neither are slam dunks..but it's at least something to consider.

Probably a single thread of green clothing.

And no, you can never spend enough on the OL when your OL sucked as bad as the Jets did in 2007.

We will not give you a break. For a Pats fan you do a hell of a job acting as a Jets troll.

I'm all for increasing our depth...and Olivea looks like he could be a great pick-up for the Jets....but doesn't he have motivation problems?

I don't think he wanted to sign earlier so he can avoid mini-camps.

I would hope so, and I would love that line much more since Woody can slide inside to his natural guard position. And the depth would be improved with Moore as a backup.
