I think it's a three year extension to get through 2012. He also has a $5 million roster bonus for 2009, so I can EASILY see him being replaced before then.
We are more than 10 mill under the cap right now. Olivia would be cheap. High pick rookie rarely ever sign until right before training camp starts.... The reason is that the agents are trying to see what other players around them sign for so they have more leverage to argue over crap.
2008 - $1 mill with a $620,000 roster bonus 2009 - $620,000 with a $5 million roster bonus 2010 - $760,000 2011 - $2 million 2012 - $1.75 million 2013 - $1 million Yes, three extension, not six, my fault. But it is through 2013, not 2012.
Nicely done. In my genius I was just gonna tell him STFU and hope he understood what I was trying to say. Now I can just QFT.
With all due respect: Do NOT feed the animal. They are out there to entertain you. Be entertained by their show, then move on.
I wouldn?t be too excited about Olivea, he seems to have some serious motivation problems. But if he comes cheap he would be a nice signing.
I would love to get Olivea at the right price, we need the depth, however this is said to be a June 1st signing, which means it is a team trying to get under the cap, clearly not the Jets. Woody was a disaster at RG last season for the Lions, and Bender is a 6th round project. Moore is our best backup, too bad as of right now he will be starting.
I see that some places, but then I say to myself this guy was a seventh rounder who started 31 of 32 games in his first two years in the league. In four years in the league, he's been called for two holds, and on average, gives up about five sacks per year. I think he was more than likely playing hurt. I think his back was probably worse than he let on. In any event, he's still 26, has played at a Pro Bowl level in the past, and is versatile. The fact that he's also local makes this a no brainer. -X-
Looks like Moore better play real well this year, or he could be in danger next season. I think he is a good back up. Marginal starter. These contracts aren't always what they appear to be when announced, Olivea would be a great pick up, if his back checks out. Doubt it though. The Jets do have cap space, but the waiting until June does sound like some kind of cap issue signing, If it were the Jets I think he would be signed. Hope I'm wrong
He would immediately be our best backup o-lineman and could possibly start over Moore or Woody. If we can sign him we should. Right now if any of our starters go down on o-line we're fucked.
Shane Olivea - T - Chargers Chargers released RT Shane Olivea. Olivea started for the better part of four years before losing his job to Jeromey Clary in 2007, so at 26 he's suddenly one of the better young tackles available. Teams will look hard at his back injuries. Feb. 28 - 3:26 p.m. ET Who ever signs him better be real careful. back issues are not good for OL. His back has clearly hurt his play. If he is signed by the Jets better be a performance clause in the contract.
Depth or competition. I don't think Moore is going to be the starter for a heck of a lot longer. He's average at best.
The Jets are the discussion. Please refrain from saying "we" unless the discussion you address is the Patriots
