They've had a top 10 for what seems like FOREVER, and they still haven't become a better team. My "questions" might seem bizarre to you, but this isn't Madden, it's the NFL and speed isn't everything. The Raiders are a bad team, and they make stupid decisions when it comes to drafting and signing players. Al Davis has turned that franchise into a giant joke. Javon Walker isn't the same player anymore after the murder of Darrent Williams. Darren McFadden was a game changing back IN COLLEGE. He hasn't done anything in the NFL, and neither has Michael Bush. Lamont Jordan was benched for Justin Fargas. If by capable you mean barely rushing for over 1000 yards, then I guess you're right. Oakland had about 14 running backs last season, and even when they were down big, they still ran the ball. That's why they have so many yards. Being sixth in the league in rushing still got them the 4th overall pick, so it's not that big of a deal. JaMarcus Russell is out of shape, stupid, and all he has is a big arm. He could turn out to be a franchise QB, but I think he's the next Ryan Leaf. The Raiders' staff is surrounding him with speed at receiver, and no real receiving options unless Walker turns things around. Asomugha is going to leave in 2009. There's no way he stays on that garbage team...he'll go to the highest bidder that's name isn't Oakland. I said the strength of Oakland's team was their secondary. I didn't question that at all - READ MY ENTIRE POST. It's just ridiculous to pour that much money into DeAngelo Hall, who has a big ego, and he gambles way to much. You can't compare Brandon Moore to Robert Gallery. Moore wasn't a top 5 pick. The Jets' new offensive line should be much better than Oakland's. D'brick/Faneca > Harris/Gallery. The problem with your Ferguson argument is this: He's never played next to an elite guard like Alan Faneca. His play should improve drastically because 1. Faneca is an offensive anchor and 2. Adrian Clarke was an "anchor" holding Ferguson down. Coles and Cotchery are consistent. Walker, Curry, Carter, and Higgins are not. Walker might have the most talent, but in my opinion, he'll never be the same...especially with someone like Curry lining up on the other side. Walker will see constant double teams. Zach Miller is a good, young tight end, but Chris Baker had almost identical stats. Dustin Keller and Bubba Franks give us much better options at TE than Miller gives the Raiders.
Ok I know there is a lot of hate on this board but that is ridiculous, they went to the superbowl as recently as 2002, the AFC title game in 2001, losing by 3 in a controversial game. The jets haven't made an AFC title game since 1998. The last 3 years he raiders have been awful 4-12, 2-14, 4-12, but the Jets have only been better one year of that 4-12, 10-5, 4-12. So I think it is ridiculous for people on this board to always say how awful the raiders are, they had the same record last year as us and they have good talent, their problem has been coachng more than anything. Side note- you can't rip gallery and harris for underperforming then defend d'brick by saying he played next to a shitty guard, so did harris and gallery. Gallery played very well this year at guard next to the atrocious Barry Simms, and Harris played awful next to reggie wells who is at least as bad as clarke. True I think Faneca is great, but to say D'brick wil magically improve and Harris who was better last year in a similarly terrible line won't is ridiculous. If playing next to a good guard is that important than both should take dramatic steps forward. I actually would expect harris to be much better moving to a zone blocking scheme which plays to his strength, and brick to also get better with faneca there.
Yeah man, good English. I am completely aghast at the thought that someone on your level of literacy would call me out for learning to read. The best receiver in your division, Brandon Marshall, is hardly on the same plane as Randy Moss. The West's second best receiver Chambers just got there last season from our division. You're a complete moron. Revis held out, and adjusted well. He kept receivers like TO, Moss, Lee Evans (had Elam not bumped him), and Hines Ward mostly in check. The most Washington could do was run along side those guys. You need to learn to check your mouth. I know that you can Google DeAngelo Hall and get "2 time pro-bowler" and instantly think that he's some kind of godsend. That man is a huge liability. I live in GA, I get all the Falcons games. Usually he doesn't make plays, and when he does they are offset by his mistakes. He's like Ty Law with way more question marks. So...the teams in your division have no idea how to defend that do they...? You're counting on DMC and Bush a lot considering Reggie Bush's success in the NFL so far. It's not even the speed in the NFL that is a lot faster than what DMC has seen. It's the technique and fundamentals that these NFL players have mastered that he has yet to see. By the way, Dorsey doesn't get the responsibility of stopping numerous halfback tosses against Ark. And that's all McFadden does, he doesn't run up the gut, off guard. Dorsey was a tackle. He stuffs the run, what he doesn't do is chase fast asses horizontally across the line of scrimmage.
Let me address your lame points. First starting with the oline. Raiders blocking system -Denver stretch and CUt has proven to be highly effective running the ball sucessful where ever its been employed. It hasn't matter who the RB been. Raiders were the sixth leading rushing team because they consistantly moved the ball on the ground. Jets OLIne with only proven upgrade at LG(faneca) is now better than Raiders proven system. D Woody has played five games in his career at RT , now were going to consider him a stud. Dbrickshaw Ferguson who probably will never be a very good run blocker is now some stud roadgrader because faneca next to him. Raiders were sixth leading running team and now with a stud RB MKcfadden watch out. Until Jets prove they are better, IM taking the proven system over the name players. kWAME hARRIS NO ONE QUESTIONS THAT MAN ABILITY TO RUN BLOCK. tHAT WHAT RAIDERS ARE A RUNNING TEAM,THAT THERUNNING GAME SETS UP THE PASS. Also It not just Oline but The TES Zach Milller a very good blocker, two of the best Fullbacks in the game (J Griffith and Oren Oneal) and some physical WRs thAT ALL CONTRIBUTE TO RUNNING GAME SUCESS. Jamarcus Russell is not out of shape and everyone that has left the Raiders(Rhodes_ who blasted the Raiders on their way out the door) have said this kid going to be something special. W Sapp- has taken his shots at the Raiders but is another big time Russell supporter. OF couse your going to surround Russell with speed . Maybe you should watch some football games , where the QB dosen't have to throw five to eight yards pass patterns, but can actually throw THE football down the field. LEts see a fake Pitch to MCfadden is not going to get the safetys moving up. Just enough time for the burners with size D Carter 6'3 200 , Chaz Schilens 6'4 225 42 inch vertical sub 4.4 speed. to get behind the secondary. Yea Asomugha will leave in 2009 (Let me guess to the Jets- Keep dreaming) Asomugha going nowhere. Deangelo Hall is now on someone number 2 WR. BIg diffrence. When you play man to man 98% of the time, It is imperative having two elite cb's. More confisdencew you have in your swecondary doing the job, the more resources you can put in other areas(ie stopping the run) Your Burying Javon Walker too soon. Lets see what the guy is before you start making outlandish statements like that. The guy if heaslthy is a legitimate number 1 WR and why more than half the NFL teams contacted his agent after Broncos released him. MCfadden and Bush are going to help tremendously in the passing game. Ledts see which Jets lb is going to be asked to cover him.
I guess you didn't watch too many of Mcfadden college games. Every scouting report says Mcfadden is a physical runner between the tackles. Mike Ditka says Mcfadden is his type of player alweays looking for contact.(You make like this guy Leon Washington) Mcfadden coming to a proven team that can run block. You put a talent like Mcfadden behind Raiders oline, and you have something special. Stop trying to make Revis into something that is not justified. He played very well half a season and struggled mightly in the first half. Didn't you leasrn anything from J Vilma . - who ALot oF Jet fans had in Canton. Again F Washington rookie year you didn't see teams haven't as much sucess completed passes on Washington as they did with Revis. Fact. Again Raiders have tyheir number 1 Cb _ N Asomugha . What that means is MR hall is seeing the number 2 WR. BIg diffrence. IF Revis was on the Raiderfsa he probably would be fourth string CB. Just think about that. Please the point your trying to make aboiut the WRs in your divison is asisine. Im not even going to wASTED MY TIME WITH THAT ONE. Nice Try Kid maybe in a couple years you will have better understanding of the game.
I like how you think people walk into the NFL and don't have growing pains. Revis has a "bad" half season due to being a rookie. And when teams still have to throw on you because the score is close, the stats will say something else. They don't run on us like they do to the Raiders considering teams beat you by 3 scores and can run out the clock, and not pass on your coveted DBs And Vilma? Pro-Bowl MLB, not suited for the 3-4?.... ugh Let's see what Kiffin and Ryan would say about that first, before your uninformed consistently incorrect opinions sound like a decent statement......ugh Look in the mirror and read this aloud.
First off Justin Fargas averaged 5.4 yards per carry. Yea thats pretty average. Now Compare that to Thomnas Jones average. Second who do you think can Utilize Drew carter abilties better a jake Delhomme or a Jamarcus Russell. Also having a weapon like Mcfadden who defenses have to account for everytime. \And drew Carter going to be a serious weapon. Raiders offense is light years ahead of Jets and in time could be one of the best. When you can consistantly run the ball sucessfully , sixth in Nfl you have the basis for a very strong foundation. 1 javon Walker- is a number 1 WR when healthy. I will let thge numbers speak for him. Keep trying to bury this guy and your the one whose going to have egg on your face. 2. Jamarcus Russell rumors have proven to be false and no one has put more time in Raiders offseason plan than him. Again Russell dosen't have to carry the offense, he has the proven running game to lean on. 3.R Curry 6'2 225 - was well on his way to be a number 1 Wr until two achilles tears. Those injuries just take time. HE is one best possessin reciever in the game. Solid number 2 WR. Drew Carter coming to perfect situation. As number three hes there to stretch the field. To open up fror Zach Millerb and R Curry to exploit the underneath stuff. With Raiders firepower at Rb , you will see how effective he is. (expect his yard per catch to be sick) 4. D Mcfadden and M Bush are not only going to bring Raiders running game up anothedr level but they are going to do wonders for raiders passing game. Bush despite his sized is very dangerous pass catcher. Mcfadden going to be a nightmare for teams in coverage. Can't wait to see one best Lbs in coverage Thomas Hioward and Mcfadden go man to man (that a pay per view type of matchup) 5. Johnnie Lee Higgins and Drisian - you do know that both of bthese guys are going to have their work cut out to make Raiders roster. Probably are the sixth and seventh Wr right now. Again look at Raiders roster there WR are hugh and fast. Armnan Shields is a guy to watch out for. Kiffin says if he wasn't lost to injury his senior season he might have been a first round draft choice. hAs size 6'1 194 speed sub 4.4 , hands, and runs good routes. Raiders have alot of young guys that could be something in the futuRE. James Lofton going to be asked to get the best out them like he did with Chargers. Raiders have their WR corp J Walker ,Curry and Drew carter TE Zach Miller( Proved has very good chemistry with Russell . D Mcfadden and M Bush arfe going to be big time weapons in the passing game. 6. Raiders upgraded their formible run blocking even further this offseason. Kwame harris is a devasting run blocker. Big upgrade to B Sims. The Pointn your missing Raiders don't needd to have the best passblockers . WHY. When you can run the ball consistantly well as they can. You don't put yourself in too many known passing downs. Nothing slows down pass rushers when they haveto first worry about stopping the run. Also a weapon like MCfadden in backfield and a dump off and he has the potential to take it to the house everytime. Raiders offense going to be dramically improved from last year. Raiders are going to be pretty darn good on offense this year. Alot of playmakers now.
First off you don't know what your talking about there was maybe four game tops Raiders were out of it early. Alot games Raiders had leads in the fourth quarter. This is easy to look up go to NFl.com play by play for each game. Again I duiscussed Revis situation alot. Its too early to say what Revis is after one half of playing very well. IT wasn't just coincidence that everyone on the Jets started to play well in second half on defense. Gimmick on defense(confused alot of offenses blocking schemes) 2. Weather 3. Teams you played which some were really bad (Titans, hurting Chiefs, Dolphins, Steelers without thewir full Wr corp) All could have contributed to revis look like he was improving. With Jets situation at # 2 and # 3 cb there aren't going to be many teams testing Revis next season. That dosen't necessarily mean he still a tiop CB, just your other Cbs are atrocious. NO GM would take Revis over Asomugha or Deangelo hall(two time probowl CB) . What more can I say.
You can say a lot more, but none is taken seriously or will have any substance to it. Here's how I form most of my opinions- If I'm a NFL coach, what am I thinking here? Thats why when you say Revis is a joke- your full of shit, since most coaches are enamored by his skills. You don't understand progress. Also, if they aren't a Raider, they have to suck, right? We here at TGG have told you that we like Aso, he's a good CB. But you will never give credit where credit is due if they don't wear the embarrassing logo of Oakland. You're just another one of "those fans" that are laughed at by those of higher intellect. I feel sorry for you.
No dude, you really are stupid. The WRs here are better. But you have fun talking nonsense to Jets fans on a message board, while we see the Raiders try to weasel their way out of the top 5 draft pick situation. Vilma's still good, it's called injuries and not playing in a system exactly suited for him. Yeah dude, McFadden does go for contact along the sidelines, that's admirable. He doesn't run between the tackles for success that much at all. I mean, when he does--none of that "big play" crap comes from it. And...Reggie Bush.
NO you are stupid. First Jets wrs are not better than the Raideers. This year with Jamarcus Russell(A Potential franchise qb) versusd a has been Chad Pennington and never will K Clemens throwing the ball ,to their respective recievers. Raiders wr will do alot better, than Jets wrs. Jets are going to have one of the worst offense in all of football next season. D Mcfadden proved he can run very sucessfully between the tackles. (thats in the toughest conference in America SEC) Destroyed the number 2 defense(Lsu) at the time. Stop watching youtube, because alot of times the very big runs are going to be when he gets outside. Just because the long TD runs were outside, menas he not very good running between the tackles. YOu do know the size diffrence between Mcfadden and R Bush. SO its a silly comparison. J Vilma is now in New Orleans. If Mangini was this defense genius, don't you think he could come up with a scheme to utilize his best player. J Vilma has always been overhyped by the NEw York Media. Vilma now playing in 3-4. What do you say, when he looks no better there.
You monkey ass. I didn't say ours were better I said the AFC East's are better. But even if I had said that ours are better, I would be speaking the outright truth. Form a coherent post you ridiculous Californian yokel. You overrate all your scrubs. I think that you might be completely and utterly wrong about our offense being anywhere near the worst, but then again we don't have 22 guys who should be on the USA's track and field team instead of playing football, so who knows? I live in Georgia, I get SEC games. You do know McFadden fumbles a ton, right? What with birth control and football control. But we'll see how much his tall, skinny legged ass can manage thru the smaller holes in the NFL. Saints play the 4-3. You know, the one where speedy, quick MLBs can shine because there are 4 guys in front taking on guys? Vilma will be able to rely on instincts garnished from before Miami and while at Miami. Mangini is not a 4-3 defensive genius, none of us ever claimed he was. What, ,doyousay, jeouasx, when we put commas, in the wrong places, because we, are incapable, of devleopgin, a sensible brain, function.
Play by play: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/playbyplay?gameId=273270099&period=0 There ya go bud. You really think that DMC will be cranking out 73 yard runs against NFL teams to boost his stats so you can come slob on his knob on message boards? Other than that, his day consisted of a bunch of average to mediocre runs that were for about 5 yards or less, a nice 16 yard TD run cut to the OUTSIDE. I was hoping to see if the runs were pitches or inside handoffs, but oh well.
I just wanted to quote this just cause no one reads your post and this is just a smidgen of the dumb shit thats been said by you. Seriously....WTF does that translate to?
The Point was now that Vilma back in the 4-3, lets see what he does with the Saints. IF he still looks like garbage ,what excuse will Vilma fans make now. Vilma was a one year wonder, Revis was half a year wonder. Don't make Revis out to be something he not. Elite CB. Sorry but you have to do it more than half a season.
First off on MCfadden fumbles- You do know a majority were when he was playing qb. Second Mcfadden did have poor technique when holding the ball , Tom Rathman(Raiders RB coach already corrected that. See Tiki Barber- who too had a bad fumbling problem, till Coughlin fixed his technique. How much did Tiki fumbled after that. See what happens when you get good coaching. Second. The AFc East was easily the worst division in football last year. Miami and Jets were both fighting it out all season for that number 1 pick. NOw when your factoring in AFC east has better WRs. You have to look at other FACTORS. Like the AFc West has some best running attacks and some of the best TEs in all of football. ( Gates, Gonzalez etc are used like Wrs) WR Vincent Jackson no joke and he demonstarated his ability in playoffs. Now look at some of AFC East teams stopping the run. Outside the Patriots , no one could stop the run. NOw why would teams throw the ball, when those teams were so poor defending the run.. See The Raiders versus Miami. Raiders threw five passes against the dolphins all game. Rushed for close to 300 Yards in that game. So right there explains why ITs immateial what you have at WR in AFc East. Teams are going to run the ball more than pass it. (also weather conditions in second half - werren't condusive to throwing the balls well- maybe why Revis coverage looked better in second half. Again maybe Revis is as good as Jet fans think, but he will have to do it more than half a season. ( only time will tell) That was just a typo with Vilma. Vilma back in the 4-3 better show something or else . It would confirm what I said from the beginning. Hes was more a New York Media creation ,than one of the top LBs in the game. Redneck You do know Raiders Stretch and cut blocking scheme does , IT creates some big holes for the RB to exploit. Makes good rbs look great, Great RBs well you finish the rest. BTW- Correction mangini isn't a very good defensive coordinator/coach. I think hes the Brian billick of defense. A guy with a reputation for being better ,than what his teams have done- on that side of the ball.
