Nobody wants Chad but us. Nobody thinks he is and Nfl Qb except Jet Fans! If they could have gotten something for him they would have.
Pennington - Max # of wins he's gonna give us is say 10 - out of playoffs by the end of wildcard weekend - definitely not SB material. Are you, as a Jet fan, content with this? Clemens - Unknown. But isn't worth it to see what he's made of. Anyone who says that his 7 game tryout, where he went 3-4 with a horrible Oline/Coles hurt, is a true indication of whether Clemens has what it takes or not is out of their mind. Yes he has shown growing pains - but what first time starting QB hasn't (Exception - Big Ben). The main thing is he has shown he has skills at the position that Pennington can't offer (which people contend is the reason CP can't lead us to a SB) such as: arm strength, mobility in/out of the pocket, and flashes of making the tough throws (bal game). I believe CP has the higher probability of winning more games THIS year but CP's ceiling is much lower than KC's. For me, I'd rather take a chance on Clemens to see what he can do with a better offense. Another way to look at it: CP is on his way down, KC is on his way up. CP range of probable wins this year: 6-10, finished by wild card wkend next year: 6-10, finished by wild card wkend KC range of probable wins this year: 4-12 next year: 1-15 Long story short: CP, you know what you're getting, KC, it's worth finding out. Obviously this post is simply my point of view/projections Thought I'd give my 2 cents.
Also people are basing these wins on the QB winning the game. How about the defense and special teams winning the games for us like how the defense and special teams what some games for the Bears during their Super Bowl run. Because i know some of those game Rex Grossman played horrible and the defense and devin hester was the offense. So people predict 6 wins how about 9 wins. 6 going to the QB and 3 going to the other aspect of the game. There are other ways of winning
In Chad's case it is as much a concern about the Qb losing games for you. Exhibit A would be his pick sixes last year.
Give me a break. Are you comparing sitting on the sidelines to playing time. How long have you been following football???? How may games and game films have you watched of this guy Falco and what would he have done this year?
Execuse me, most Jet fans don't think highly of Chad, we just don't know about Clemens. Besides, salary always plays into things in the NFL, not just talent. I am sure plenty of teams would love to have Chad as a backup for the right price. In fact, I would love to have Chad a towel waving backup for 2 million, not 6. Oh well, this will be his last year hear.
Ironically enough, it was only recently that Cimini stated what I said all of last year, about Chads crappy performance being tied to the High Ankle Sprain. My guess is that Cimini's 'Source' was a member of the CS, who didnt want the finger pointed back at them for playing Chad, when it cearly made more sense to play Clemens, after Baltimore, and thru the Bye, and bring Captain Checkdown back when healthy. That having been said, I think Clemens will start, for two reasons. The ability to hit Cotchery and Stuckey in smaller windows on slants, and the Keller pick. Unless Chad has really put some zip on the mediumball he throws, there is no way that he'll be throwing to Keller running down the seam, with a LB trailing, and Safety closing in.... (i.e. Why pick Keller, who will be mostly getting the ball in tight spots in the middle of the field, if your putting lobs down there...)
Ah Don! Where you been? We've missed your always 100% correct insight lately. Thank God you're the only one with the balls to enlighten us. Our stupid coaching staff doesn't even know half the things we now know because of you. And you make such great points too...WTF was Clemens doing for 1.5 years that he couldn't lead a team with no O-line and injured/crappy WRs to better than a 4 win season? Keep being the shining beacon for us Don. You're my #1 source for Jets truf/news.
With all due respect, Chad didn't play healthy last year. Remember the rolled leg in Game 1? The only reason people are calling for Clemens is because he is younger, and we still don't know what we have with him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well. Take it for what it's worth, but I'd like to think that Jets FO isn't the moron that Herm/Bradway FO was, and if you can accept that, you can easily follow that Clemens didn't convince the Jets brass last year. True, it might be hard to come in in the middle of the season and compete - but then, as people have been calling out, the kind of top-notch QBs do just that even early in their career (see: Tom Brady.) Simply, I have hard time convincing myself that Clemens will be THE answer - more likely he won't be. Whatever he has shown last year was nothing short of pitiful. True, he did win 3 games, but then Chad could have won the three games that Clemens won after all. I think Clemens stinks, and I feel that's why they drafted yet another QB in Ainge - looks like HE might be the long term solution. (Hell, if Clemens deserves his chance, Ainge deserves all the more - prestigious program, good career stats, protypical size, good intangibles, what else can you ask for? -> Does this mean I am pulling for Ainge? Hell no. 'Clemens deserves a clean shot' sounds just as ludicrous to me, that's the point.)
Clemens was a better college quarterback than Ainge, and he deserves more of a chance than Ainge. You can tell just by looking what round they were drafted in. Any QB would have gotten killed last year. Sure, Clemens didn't look good, but who would have in their first time playing?
I have no clue how anyone could develop an assessment of either quarterback last season. The entire friggin team was terrible outside of the special teams units. That being said, I believe Chad will be the starter. The only reason Chad was benched last season was because the coaching staff just got desperate and wanted to see if Kellen could pull a rabbit out of his hat. The team won more games with Kellen, but I don't attribute that to him, but the fact that the defense finally pulled their heads out of their asses.
He wasn't out for a prolonged period of time. I felt the injury may have had something to do w/ his problems but I didn't want to make another injury excuse. Guys play hurt all the time and he only missed a week so if he was healthy enough to play then that is a healthy season.
cuz it can potentially throw your wr chemistry off rhythm and its usually a sign of not having a individual leader or being a team fully capable of what you really want to do offensively. i just think itd be too obvious of whats going on. plus the other thing is qbs need the whole game. you know how much bitching thered be and second guessing. what if we wouldve stuck with him on this play instead. just too much confusion at a position where one man should be able to get the job done. how about our OL blocks and we see what Clemens a 2nd rd pick is really capable of?
