Is anyone else worried about the teams group at wideout? They didn't address this at all really and I thought they really lacked depth last season, now with no running game and a terrible line last season it's hard to say but I'm not 100% sure about going into the season with Coles & Cotch? They are both #2's at best, Coles is slowing down and may start being injury pron? Cotch is good but again, he's not a #1 guy, and after them I say this team has crap, Brad Smith drops almost as many passes at McDrophands did, plus he's a QB at heart, I really wish the Jets would add somebody, Chad Johnson would have been great and really have put this offense over the top but he's not going anyplace no matter what he says. I don't know, if Coles and Cotch don't have big years the passing game may not be to good this year no matter who is under center?????????????????

Coles is still a #1 until further notice.

Didn't address it? We used a 1st round pick on Keller and got that 6'4 guy in the 6th round.

Coles and Cotch are both high quality starters, and Stuckey is going to be great out of the slot.

No worries with WR's. Keller I think was drafted more to be one and make Baker scared and STFU. Will have to see how the 2 rookies work out Stuckey and Henry. (considering Chansi a rookie since never played a regular season down yet.) Then we can decide next year if need more talent there.

I think we have some really good WRs to work with. There are some undrafted FAs, and the TE / WR we drafted is super, plus that guy Marcus is 6'4" and isn't all that slow. He and Keller seems to catch everything that's thrown near them. Stuckey had time get get healthy. Brad Smith is a smart smooth talented guy who's getting better all the time. But he and Cotch had trouble with catching Kellen's balls. They need to work on the juggs machine more for Kellen.

I think that Coles and Cotch are tops -- they complement each other beautifully -- and they both will get open a lot more easily this year because of either this new TE or the slot guy, or both.

As far as Coles' speed, well, let's see how he does in TC. I seriously doubt he's really dropped a step, if he can come back fully recovered from all those nicks, aches, pains, and headaches.

Yes they did address it a bit in the draft but who knows what these guys will end up being? They are rookies and you don't know what your going to get till they get on the field, I don't know? I'm not sold on what this teams has as of today, I hope Coles stays healthy and Cotch steps it up yet another notch this year.

I think if the revamped offensive line winds up being an upgrade over last season, then the passing game will be much improved. If teams can't rush the QB (who ever it is) as effectively as they did last year, then that QB will have more time to find Coles and Cotchery, both of whom are great at exploiting holes in coverage.

Also, if this revamped line can perform better in the running game, it could cause the safeties and linebackers to cheat up closer to the line, which will also open things up for the receivers and tight ends.

I think while Coles and Cotchery aren't superstars, they're much better than average and are capable of making big plays. Hopefully the offensive line can really perform well, which can open this offense up more than it could last season.

    Cheers.

The Jets have enough receiving weapons in the entire offense to complement what will primarily be a running offense. We have a bunch of guys who can catch and make yards after the catch. No real burner but a bunch of solid possession receivers and hopefully a new dangerous over the middle threat in Keller. We should be fine.

these days, thats a easy call on about 90% of threads, where the topic is about Offense(players)

Didn?t even the "New Generation of Left Tackles"-Thread turn into a QB-Debate?

WR was the single best off season work we did. McCariens is gone.

Bingo, are you sure this thread wasnt meant to be started before the draft? I mean comon....coles, cotch, keller, stuckey, harvey in that order is solid. B Smith is a great athlete but is the odd man out at WR. He is going to feed his children by stellar special teams play or as a backup in the event a few of the aforementioned WR's get injured.

We are solid at WR. I would be more concerned with off line and def line depth if we sustain injuries at any of those positions. Our starters are great but the guys behind them are a big drop off.

I think we drafted a guy named Keller??

Idk maybe he is going to be the guy to strech the seams for us.

Between him, a HEALTHY coles and Cotch we have a good if not great reciever core.

This is a very valid question, since on paper, we have Coles and Cotchery and then nothing. Brad Smith was not impressive last season in his first extended opportunity, Marcus Henry is a rookie 6th rounder coming off his one good college season, and Chansi Stuckey is a 7th round pick coming off a major injury. Wallace Wright has also never done anything noteworthy as a wide receiver. The #3 receiver is a major question mark. I'm pretty sure the FO is looking to incorporate a 2 TE offense more often than a 3 WR offense, so Keller will be the guy getting the 3rd most looks, effectively being the #3 receiver.

It's a valid question but if you look at your post we do have some good young athletic talent for depth and Keller was clearly drafted to be a big part of our passing attack.

I don't like the over relliance on Coles, age and concussions make me believe his production is going to do nothing but go down but I wouldn't underestimate either Stucky or Henry because they were late round picks. If one or two guys step up we have good depth. On paper it's not great but we have a lot more bodies and talent in camp this year at the position than last year. Work in progress moving in the right direction.

Do we throw recently released Koren Robinson a bone? He's def not a character guy but he's a decent 3rd option we could get for cheap. Just an idea.

we have 6th round talent, 7th round talent and a rookie who has proved nothing and as much as everyone on this site wants to say he is the saviour he has not proven to be anything yet.

i also think its a valid concern, coles is definitely on a toward trend as much as i hate to see or admit it. cotchery is a solid 2 but nothing more and after that there are nothing but questions.

if one of those 2 goes down who replaces them? i would hate to see wallace wright have to try and be the guy again this year.

so yeah i would be worried about wr as much as i want the 3 of these "rookies" to do wonderful things i have no guarantees and nothing more than hopes. thats an ugly situation to have in the nfl. what can be done about it, i doubt too much at this point i think we will go into the season with what we have and hope that the new guys can prove themselves and the old guys stay healthy.

just like in all the OL posts there are only so many #1 WR you can have on one team as there is only 1 ball and so much money.
