Vince Young as a QB isn't good. He is highly mediocre QB at best, but he is a winner. His good mobility and the 2nd best running game in the NFL helps too. Not to mention that Defense was great last year... i think the drop-off year is this one, they lost a lot of guys this offseason.
Whats with the name fetish? And didn't the 4 bums help win the game? If you're talking the Chargers then Gates, Jackson, Parker, and Davis were their WRs. Whats the point? They don't suck enough that the Chargers have had, have, and will have one of the better offenses in the league. If you're trying to tell me that getting better players makes everyone better, I know that already. It's not like Branch has fallen off the face of the earth. He's playing pretty much the same way he did for the Pats. Again, it's just people like you who blow things like a Super Bowl MVP or a Pro Bowl out of proportion that put some ridiculous expectations on Branch. He was never a world better before, and he still isn't. What kind of logic is this? Young turned the ball over 20+ times last year and only had 12 scores. How the hell was he doing anything with less talent? The Titans D >>>>>>>>>>>>> Vince Young Take away Albert Haynesworth, and you could say the same thing... Zomg you're right...he's the best ever. Your post just gets worse from there sooo...I'm done.
The point Im making is Vince young is mediocre and he wins. If Young gets bashed for winning with mediocre at best talent on offense then how in the world can we even think to defend Chad for six years.
Jesus Christ. Vince Young QB'd the 22nd ranked offense in the NFL. How in the fuck should he get any credit for being a "winner?" Maybe I'm being crazy, but I would think a QB who threw 9 (!!!) TDs to 17 INTs is part of the "mediocre talent" problem the Titans have, no? What in the fuck kind of logic or reasoning or anything are you using here?
The fact remains that Chad cannot bring the team back from a deficit in the last twenty minutes of the game.
Best reason for putting Clemens in so far. The team invested the pick in him and it's about time the CS figures out what it has in him. Now is probably the best chance the Jets have to address that issue. Thomas Jones, Alan Faneca and Damien Woody should help to create an environment for Clemens where he can concentrate on playing and not have to keep one eye on his blindside making sure that the gaping hole at LG isn't letting another end rush through and kill him. He has the running game with Jones and Richardson, the o-line help with Faneca suring up the LG spot as well as - mentoring Brick and Mangold - and Woody playing at RT (granted he has limited experience at the position but he played well in those games with the Lions). They still have Faneca and Jones for a couple more years so if Clemens goes in and proves he's not suited for the job then the Jets would still be able to bring in another QB in the draft without turning him into Ken O'Brien. If they wait another year they risk having to rebuild the o-line again and endangering another prospect (I guarantee Moore isn't going to last another 2 years as the starter at RG). Give him the reigns and let's see what this team has already.
When was the last time Chad Pennington led a successful 2-minute drill that ended with a TD? I can't remember even once since the end of 2004... Against the terrible, terrible Bengals defense last season, Chad Pennington had good protection, and moved the ball 22 yards in one minute before throwing a pick 6 to seal the game... The previous week, against Philadelphia Chad Pennington and the offense got the ball down 7 with 8 minutes left. Chad Pennington was not sacked on the ensuing drive, and had okay time to throw the whole time. The "drive" took 4 and a half minutes. Pennington completed 2 passes on the drive- none to a WR. Let's go back to 2006, when we went 10-6 and the OL, though far from perfect, was much better than in 2007... I checked every game from 2006, looking for ONE successfully executed 2-minute drill at the end of the game when the game was within reach (10 point differential or less)... That is the scenario that we say Pennington cannot succeed in, because of his physical limitations.... He had opportunities in Week 2 (NE) {Tough situation}, Week 4 (IND) {Had to resort to that crazy lateral-filled play}, Week 8 (CLE) {This drive began on Cleveland's 47, and Pennington moved the team 23 yards in one minute}, Week 11 (CHI) {On this one, Chad took 10 plays and 1:35 to move the ball 19 yards before turning it over on downs}, Week 16 (MIA) {This one was his most successful of the season, moving the ball to the MIA 23, and ending in a FG}. That's five opportunities to put together a successful two-minute drill with decent protection, and he came away with ONE FIELD GOAL.... Pennington's physical limitations make him extremely easy to defend in two-min drill situations, because he cannot complete the deep/intermediate sideline routes with any consistency. This results in too many passes towards the middle of the field (and thus a lot of precious time ticking off the clock) and a lot of incompletions/INTs when he tries to conserve time by going to the sideline.... This isn't even an argument. It doesn't matter whether or not the CS thinks he is capable of being the starter, that doesn't change the fact that he CANNOT be relied upon to lead the team back in pressure situations... I don't know how anyone who has watched the games in the last 6+ years can argue otherwise...
Because he is on the Jets... if you want to make a VY forum go to a Titans site and go crazy. What does this post even mean?
Vince finds a way to win even when his stats like passer rating are not good! Like I said before if we can bash young then how can we defend Chad! All Vince does is win!
Great Post. Sad thing is they have not been watching the last six years just living in a 2002 Chad Fantasy land!
You are pleading to ignorance on this one... You aren't mentioning any contributions from their D which was great, and neglecting pretty much every other player on the offensive side other than the QB. If this was a one person sport like golf you would have a case, but in this case it's a horrible argument to say VY was responsible for every win nobody else. What about the Titans loses who do you blame for those?
I want a If Chad is not as good as Vy then why is he even a Jet thread. The problem is Chad is still a Jet!
WTF does he do, tell Haynesworth and the D to not give up points? Cause thats definitely whats happening. 22nd ranked O. 8th ranked D. How is Vince Young the reason for any of this? Why am I still trying to make you figure this out?
When the game is in the 4th quarter with Vince young behind center he has orchestrated comebacks and made plays to win the game. Thier Defense is awesome etc, etc but when the game is on the line and Vince is in he gives the Titans a chance to win. Unlike the Qb the NYJ's currently have under center when we are in similar situations as stated by a previous poster in this thread.
I don't care how he gets in the endzone. The fact is he made it. I by no means think Vince is a top tier Qb but with that said Vince unlike Chad finds a way to score!
