Tom Brady scouting report before the NFL Draft: "Poor build, very skinny and narrow, lacks mobility and the ability to avoid the rush, lacks a really strong arm." I've heard a lot of the same complaints about Ainge. Its not fair to Ainge nor Brady to compare the two but with time Ainge can become a good NFL QB using Brady as the precedent. There's no way he will start this year but by his 3rd year he could be a decent option if he improves his build and works on becoming a professional QB. On a side note....during the final regular season game last year between the Giants and Patsies they showed a video of Brady during his combine. Wow what a fucking dork he was back then. Tall, gangly looking cracker with long arms who looked more like a pedophile than a football player. He's really come a longggggggg way.
I don't understand the concern, we signed a LG and backup RT in FA. QB is so over rated with a good OL we could plug anyone in.
Winston you lose so much credibility when you make these kind of poo-poo comments. No one is suggesting that you can throw just any QB out there. What people have said is that last years OL was so bad that Pennington or Clemens needs a chance to show what they can do with time to throw the ball and a ground game that can move the chains. Pennington has already shown in his career that he can be successful behind a solid OL.
Most of the NFL Defense including our own play a brand of bend don't break D. The reason is the league has changed the rules to favor the passing game and they can't load up in the box as much. Teams allow teams to move the chains in this league because on long methodical drives something eventual goes wrong. Moving the chains proves pretty much nothing, scoring TD's something Pennington has been totally inadeqaute against any kind of good D is the problem. On top of that his TD to INT ratio has gone down the shoot which means either his decision making process isn't very good or his arm isn't capable of what his brain thinks it is. We have had sensational special teams, consistent points on D and special teams and really good field postion and our scoring is pathetic. The last great game Pennington had that was meaningful against SD in the playoffs our O put up 13 points against a team who at the time was a middle of the pack pass D. We know what Pennington can do with a great OL and a HOF running back. We don't have a real clue on Clemens. That doesn't mean Clemens will succeed at all with a good OL just that he might bring something to the table we don't have now, the ability to break a bend don't break NFL D, something Chad is totally incapable of anymore. Regarding Cred, speak for yourself, who are you to paint a broad brush on anyone?
Numbers lie like H**l when it comes to Chad! If you listen to all the analyst they say that stat should be abolished. Chad has a great passer rating because he is the king of one yard Completions. These numbers are from the Pro Football Hall of fame site. To even Justify any list that would have Chad Pennington and Daunte Culpepper ahead of Dan Marino, Brett Farve, Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw or Joe Namath is beyond a joke! This stupid stats proves that Dante Culpepper should have been signed for 2Mil and the Rest of the money used to sign Depth for both our lines. If you think this stat can show that chad is anywhere near the above mentioned Quarterbacks it shows an absolute lack of football knowledge and a love for Chad to the point that you need to use a joke of a stat to justify him even being mentioned with the greats of the game. He is the king of the 2 yard pass on 3rd and ten. There are 100 Qb's on this list that are better than Chad. Td's and Yardage is what matters! Comments like this really add to the discussion. Keep em coming Quite frankly I've seen more garbage like this from you than I'd expect. And that's what I was referring to. But whatever, keep making your "funny" but pointless comments
We disagree about Chad, I understand you can't keep up with the debate and have to resort to attacking the messenger. If this is the best you can bring to your argument so be it.
You can't be serious? can you? I have no problem debating Pennington vs. Clemens. I'm not attacking your for your opinion so I'm not even sure where you got that. You made a miserable attempt at a joke by twisting what people have been saying regarding the Offensive Line. And to me that doesn't nothing to add to the debate. I'm sorry you took my criticism of your comment the wrong way. My comment to you had nothing to do with Chad.
I get it now it was merely a personal attack. Thanks for the clarification. I wrongly assumed it was your debate technique since personal attacks aren't allowed on the board and you are a Mod.
Just about as much as what you bring to the boards. But thanks for entering the discussion. Your opinion matters so much
Your kidding with this thread right? Because I cannot see how you can POSSIBLY believe that 1. Ainge would REMOTELY help us in winning and 2. That Pennington is SOLELY the blame for the past few seasons when things went bad D'Brick ALONE gave up 23.5 sacks over the last 2 season our o line @ BEST ... was TERRIBLE last year. And coming back rusty the '06 season, which by the way we had 10 wins from a SECOND shoulder surgery could not POSSIBLY have had ANYTHING to do with Penny not having his BEST stuff. 05, he was GONE most of the season, and him playing with a messed up wing throughout the ENTIRE '04 season, with back up options like Brooks Bollinger, come on. The guy at least TRIES which is more than anyone can say for MOST players in this league. Chad may not be the promising QB he used to be, but AINGE? Dude, seriously. Clemens MAYBE but Ainge, you have GOT TO be kidding:rofl:
