I know we just had our draft, and although we did fill a few needs, i still think we have a couple more before we can be considered true contenders.

    1. Ilb, we dont really have a viable option next to Harris right now, and i think the draft is rich in lbs next year.

    2. Wr, although we got Dustin Keller, Coles is getting up there in age and with his injury history, we do need a eventual replacement and im pretty sure Cotch is not going to be a number 1.

3.#2 cb, obviuosly this is fluid and if anyone steps up, Miller Lowery, Poteat. This could easily taken off but until then, we need a#2

    4. 34 DE shaun ellis is getting old also and you always need a plethora of big men in the rotation.

5.Fs, although i am not a big believer in Elam, i hope he progresses and if not Lowrey? But obviously this position is still a question mark.

    6. Rt, we did pay Damien Woody alot of money but im not sure how he will perform. Even if he is good, we still should pick up a lineman relatively early just to create good depth on our line and as replacements down the line.

    7. Rb Jones is getting older and Leon imo is not and will never be an everydown back, maybe not next year, but it will be a priority sooner or later.

Well i think that sums it up for now, and hopefully, some of these "needs" are actually already filled.

I think Lowery seems perfect for that 2nd CB, I think but yes ILB and Wr are biggest concern followed by rb. I don't think the need for and end in the 3-4 is as important from a pass rushing perspective, because that is usually the job of the linebackers

they were saying that pace can play ILB... We have enoug LBs for now we need DL depth and a FS if Lowry doesnt play that position for us...a future # 1 WR is a defenite and OL depth...but most importantly we need a TE and a P.....lol j/k

There's just so many positions that could go either way. If guys like Clemens, Stuckey, B Smith, Miller, Lowery, Bender, etc. turn it on then obviously we have a lot fewer needs than are percieved right now.

yes 3-4 ends do not need to get sacks, but if we have and effective front three it allows your linebackers to roam free and do alot more. Shaun Ellis is adequate for now, and maybe a guy like Kareem Brown will surprise but we really dont have a good enough "rotation" of men to sustain a good line for an entire season.

I know this is a nitpick and you can get mad at me if you want, but...

Shaun Ellis has been with the team since 2000. I'm surprised to see many different posters spell his name wrong so often.

although he may line up there sometimes, he was payed 20 mil in guaranteed money to be a strong side Olb. Now if Gholston takes over that spot from day 1 and i really dont think Pace is a good enough cover guy, not familiar with him enough.. to play weak side. Which would make him an Ilb which im sure he could do, i just think he wouldnt be as effective as he would be in more space.

Although we may have filled some of the needs through this draft, as of right now considering the fact that none of the draftees have proven anything, I think these are the team needs starting with the biggest one:

    1. #2 CB
    2. Elite WR to replace Coles as a #1
    3. ILB to replace Barton (next years draft should have some good ones)
    4. Upgrade at DE position. I think we are okay for now but we could stand to upgrade.
    5. RT if Woody doesn't pan out.
    6. Free Safety if Elam doesn't turn out that great either.

You could also pencil in right guard unless we believe that this is where Woody will end up once we get a stud at tight tackle. Punter is another need but should be relatively easy to fix. Eventually we will need a successor for Faneca at LG so addressing our lack of OL depth is a concern. QB is a question mark but we could be pleasantly surprised now that we fixed the left side of our OL.

    1. Ferguson has the ability to become great next to a premier guard like Faneca

    2. Woody is a concern, but he's most likely better than Clement.

    3. Kenyon Coleman is pretty damn good against the run. Shaun Ellis will need to be replaced sometime soon, though.

    4. Brandon Moore can be replaced, but it's not a huge need.

    5. Nick Mangold is arguably the best player on the Jets.

    6. See # 3.

    7. Do you not know who Alan Faneca is?

We need some corners, another safety, some depth at inside linebacker, and some depth along the defensive line.

Dude Woody got benched at rg and then was thrown into rt where he played well. Moore is far more capable then he is. We need to get younger at the rt but we just payed Fancea and woody alot of money, so most likely they will start for at least two years.

We need a big play QB - I've seen nothing yet to say who we have are good enough - but now is their chance to prove us wrong

I don't get some of these thoughts myself. Jones is a 30 year old running back and Leon is a scat-back, but they never get listed as a need. If Coles and Cotehery or Coleman/Ellis/Jenkins are needs then surly that duo is??? No???

I think this team is really only in need of a DB and even those position have a chance of being filled with players we already have. We already have a what we believe to be an A level Corner and Safety in Rhodes and Revis. I personally don't even want a highly drafted player at those position, the money would kind of be a waste with us already having what will be a 8 plus million dollar corner and a 5-6 million dollar safety. We need to find their complementary players IMO. Ditto for Harris.

    1QB
    2RB
    3WR

Those are the only positions we are really looking for front line in the near future IMO.

    I'm gonna say:

DL - Because all 3-4 teams in their early D's will be looking for elite DL-men.

WR - Coles getting up there.

ILB - It'd be sweet to get a nice young talent there. Big Rey in '09.

RB - Lots of talent in next years draft. Personally, I'm a McCoy guy. His build and running style reminds me of LT, but Tomlinson's career at TCU was sick. Still, he's got room on his frame and lower body to get to 220 without losing speed. I also like Andre Brown, Keiland Williams, CJ Spiller, James Davis, Chris Wells, Moreno, Tony Baker, Charles Scott...etc.

CB and Safety - Lowery hopefully fills one of these. I still like Eric Smith too, and Elam certainly didn't kill us but he can be upgraded.

I just noticed these responses. With all 7 needs I was referring to backups / depth. I think the starters are fine.

If there is any starter that will get replaced immediately next year that I see... it is Barton, Thomas (he's essentially replaced already), Elam (depending on which Elam we see this year... the heat seeking missile or the guy who makes boneheaded penalties), and QB / CB depending on how good / bad our current competitors are.
