This guy's stats were INSANE in college, way better than all the other running backs but yet he wasn't even drafted! His yards and TD's were easily better than McFaddens so there must be something about the college game I clearly don't understand. Can somebody explain to me how the hell that works like that?

Woodhead played at a much lower level of competition (Division III, I think?), but he did dominate, so that says a lot about his talent. His size is a big concern because he's only 5'6 to 5'8, but he has elite speed, so he should be able to make this team as a return specialist and special teamer.

If you aren't a college football fan now, you should really try watching it. The traditions, and rivalries alone are worth it. You don't have to root for a certain team to appreciate college football. It's great...give it a chance, if you haven't already.

I guess you have to assume he is here to push Washington for his job. I'm not sure the roster allows for two guys like that.

No I haven't really ever given it a chance. It just seems so boring to root for your hometeam, allthough Wisconsin isn't that bad. I like football teams for the players and in college they start for 2 or 3 years and they're gone. Then 1/4 of the team each year is a mystery to me. It just doesn't seem to interesting to me personally. However I'm sure the rivalries are intense like you said.

Yeah, that was exactly what I was going to say. Who knows what their plans are for this kid...

What? Leon was the TEAM MVP last year. He is not going anywhere, and will have a bigger role in the offense if the return duties are handled by someone else.

If Woodhead can return punts and kickoffs, then I am pretty sure he will stick. I am really rooting for him. By the way, does anyone know if he can catch the ball? I'm thinking he could develop into a scary slot receiver (i.e., Welker, Meggett) if he can catch

    Strengths:
Extraordinarily productive...Excellent timed speed...Elusive with nice vision...Runs harder than you would think...Terrific balance...Has soft hands...Hard worker and leader with good intangibles...Very smart...Has some experience as a return man.

    Weaknesses:
Didn't play against top competition...Doesn't have either the size or bulk that you look for...Not very strong or physical...Won't offer much as an inside runner...Has issues with ball security...Durability is a concern...Sub par blocker...Limited upside.

    Notes:
Owns the N.C.A.A. single season rushing and all-time rushing records...A two-time recipient of the Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II Player of the Year...Nebraska's Gatorade Player of the Year coming out of high school but the Huskers didn't want him...Was the first Chadron St. football player to receive a full scholarship...He has been prolific at every level so far but the NFL is a different animal....A phenomenal college player with a lot of hype but just does not project well as a prospect...Will have to try and make it as a 3rd down back / situational guy and return specialist.
cant make the stats look nice so here

I think he did good catching out of the backfield

I like this signing actually. Maybe he'll never amount to anything, but he's fast, built low, really quick, and just really hard to get a hand on. Those are perfect ingredients for a RB, but we'll see how he handles taking a blow from a 250 pound NFL linebacker.

He measured 5-7 1/2, officially. I don't think there is a single back with better all-around workouts. The guy is an excellent receiver. He's without a doubt, the best athlete to come out of Division 2 I can remember. It must have been funny for him demolishing the Nebraska guys at his pro day. He was apparently the Nebraska player of the year and they didn't take him because he was too small.

I try not to get too hyped up about UDFA's, but this guy might be an exception. He has freakish athletic ability.

Jones Drew is 5'8'', so he's not that far off. If he makes the team he'll be exciting to watch in pre-season, since that'll be the only time we can see him take alot of carries.

I think he could be plenty like Leon. Maybe with the new line we could have 4 backs on this team?

I'd be surprised to see this guy on the roster when the season starts. If anything, he'll be on the practice squad.

Do you know what a bias is? His size is most likely the 5'7 1/2" number.

This kid is very exciting and I'll be rooting for him. I think if he delivers in special teams he'll be able to stick around as a third running back. He would be incredibly interesting to bring into a game for a series if the offense is completely faltering...

I don't know about that. If he can prove himself on special teams than he could be quite valuable. That 4.3 speed could be quite useful in kickoff coverage.
