Dustin Keller the second of the Jets two first round draft picks joins Joe and Evan. http://www.wfan.com/topic/play_window.php?audioType=Episode&audioId=1993975
Heard this in the afternoon. Joe made the point that he sounds like he's been in the NFL for 6 years the way he diplomatically handles the questions and doesn't skip a beat. That shows great intelligence. I can't wait to see this kid on the field.
yeah, i listened to it this morning too. that part was very pleasing. it's obvious why Tannenbaum and Mangini like him so much; besides his talent, his stitched lips come naturally, so it seems.
If you look at his measureables, they are almost exactly what Greg Olson's were when he was coming out (4.5 forty; 250lbs). The more I think about it, the more I love the pick.
Yeah, but Keller actually has good hands, plays with intensity, and was PRODUCTIVE, unlike Olsen. I never understood the hype for Olsen since he was just a physical specimen; Keller's actually a damn good player in addition to being ridiculously athletic.
Im High on this kid , I Really like the way he plays hopefully it translates over into the NFL for our Jets.
I thought the same thing. They have the same type of athletic ability but their styles are a lot different I think.
Keller plays a LOT tougher than Olsen ever did in college. I didn't catch him with the Bears last season, but that's the main difference for me. Keller's style on the field matches up very well with Coles and Cotch in that he goes over the middle without fear. When he gets hit, he pops right back up. He also adds a deep and red zone threat with his speed, ball skills, and leaping ability. I think they both have the ability to be good in this league but I think Keller's attitude on the field gives him an edge. I still don't get some of the hate for the Keller pick; from a playmaking ability, he's exactly what we need on offense.
Mike and Dog were too busy discussing Carlos Delgado for the second day in a row, after weeks of debating Joba Chamberlain's fist pump. They really have their finger on the pulse of the New York sports fan.
That is all that is discussed on any NY radio sports talk show - baseball all day every day - even in the middle of football season. It bores me to tears. Then again, so does baseball for the most part.
I love how they can't get into early season basketball or hockey, but they always tell you about how big the Yankee game is in April. Only 150 left, crunch time.
I am honestly more excited about Dustin Keller than I am Vernon Gholston...and I am THRILLED to have the ghost on our team. Dustin Keller looks every bit of the offensive receiving threat we have been looking for from the WR/TE position. This guy will split out in 4 WR set and in the slot in 3 WR set, he can play the H-back position so many of us have already mentioned, and he simply makes plays. He created some big plays by stiff arming and running by defenders. If Kellen Clemens can become more consistent this upcoming season...I have no doubt we can be a playoff team. We can win with the offensive players we have on this team. Thomas Jones, Leon Washington, Laveranues Coles, Jerricho Cothcery, Chris Baker*, and Dustin Keller.
