From the Michael Silver article here: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...g=ms-trippintuesday042908&prov=yhoo&type=lgns All I could say was "ouch". After wondering if the Jets should have let lamont walk myself, seeing this type of quote from another teamate is pretty damning.
I'm not surprised by this at all. Jordan never came across as having much of a work ethic, and previous reports had him not studying the playbook and being ready. I was happy to see him go then, and that sure doesn't look to change.
Jordan worked pretty hard when Martin was here, but he fell off the map in a big way when he went to Oakland...That franchise is so bad it isn't even funny.
I remember getting into an argument with my friend over Jordan. He said we should have used our franchise tag on him instead of John Abraham that year and I laughed in his face. I liked Jordan when he was here because he was a great complement to Martin, but I definitely wasn't sad when I saw him leave as well. I wonder where he will go once he is cut.
It's a self-discipline issue. He got what he wanted in Oakland, the starting job. What did he have to stay hungry for afterward? And an organization as screwed up as that one has been is no help.
I'm guessing that's not an issue as that BS 300 lbs. story was immediately debunked by local reporters who have seen Russell around the bay area. Tim Kawakami (local beat writer) said Russell looks in better shape than he's ever seen him, and the coaching staff has since confirmed it. Sapp quit because he was tired of the losing and tired of getting pushed all over the field in the run game...
I agree for the most part. A mere 3 years before Jordan signed in Oakland, guys like Wheatley and Garner had no issue being in shape and working hard. The Raiders are dysfunctional, but I lay this 100% on Jordan. Some guys can handle the big contract and some guys can't. The Jets dodged a bullet when they didn't sign him!
When I here Lamont Jordan, I think of that game where he threw that interception in the endzone. Cannot remember what year, what game, if we won/lost. I just remember him making a pathetic attempt to throw it out of bounds. But, I have to be honest, I was for him to stay, I wonder how he would have turned out as the starter for us.
Really? then why has no one seen a picture of him since the end of last season? If I was the no 1 overall pick with millions in endorsements riding on my health and someone put out a bullshit story about me being over 300 lbs I'd be out in front of a camera the next day to debunk it... not leave it to some hack beat writer, who only says he saw him and no pics, and coaching staff who has to do what ever crazy al tells them too...
Nope, I'm pretty sure it was the Q man, Quincy Carter. Carter last played in the minor leagues of Arena Football.
He actually admitted that, if I recall, his second year with Oakland. Not studying his Raiders playbook, that is; which was probably just 'See Spot Run', anyway. Still, having that expectation on his part doesn't excuse his being fat and lazy. His work ethic was awful, you bet. He didn't work out in the offseason, either, and I believe he admitted THAT as well. Next thing you know, he'll only run hard now if the sun is shining and his toenails are polished.
Haha! He better polish those toenails then because I believe that McFaddy kid will run him out of a job in short time.
