LOL. I know the guy personally okay, I'll leave it at that. He felt like the Jets left him out to dry. He took a lot of heat from a lot of people for the Stadium, and it really left a sour taste in his mouth. I wouldn't doubt a comeback though.
I couldn't agree more. I can't understand why the Jumbotron can't just have the J-E-T-S chant on the screen. Everyone would follow that. I remember as the season opener last season there was NO jets chant. It was insane. Whether or not people like Fireman Ed, I think we can all agree that we NEED the Jets chant at the game. After an abysmal superbowl drought, its the only thing we're known for! Lets get the chant back any way we can!
i heard the samething that he got in trouble for putting his neck out for supporting the west side stadium..i am for one happy the deal fell through..but i do miss the sound of 70,000 fans screaming J-E-T-S chant
I've never heard so much hatred for a guy that no body really knows at all. I will say a few things in his defense though 1)He WAS asked (or even Paid) to support the W/S stadium. He was told by the Jets that this was their only plan. He was all for the Jets coming back home to NEW YORK. THe Jets in less time then it takes most of us to get out of bed in the morning jump in to bed with the GIANTS All this guy wanted is for the Jets to have their own stadium in NEW YORK. Not sharing one like a tenant with the GIANTS!
Assuming that's all true, still, so what? The Jets poured a ton of money into trying to get the WSS done, let Ed take it up with Silver and Bruno, they are the ones who ultimately nixed it. If you're a Jet fan--especially if the Jets flew your ass to Denver and put you in a great seat for the AFC championship game--you go to the games wherever they are. Do any of us like playing in Giants Stadium? At least the new place will be a joint venture from the beginning with a neutral name and not in the Giants colors. So it's a few miles from New York, I don't see what the big deal is.
My god , I could give a Rats ass what Ed gets, where he lives, what he does for a living ,who originated chant, when he comes or leaves a game. I do know however when I am at a game and the Jets are down and they need a pick me up, or goal line stand . or right after a touchdown. There is nothing better than to join in with 79,500 people and scream our chant so loud that you cant even hear yourself saying it. If that doesn't get your blood flowing. Then maybe its best you stay home with your other 499 friends. Its all about having fun and cheering my team on with my fellow fans . Right now Ed is the one gettin it done. Some other guy comes along who can get us going...Fine. But just like everything else people over analyze everything. Go to the game do what you want. If sitting there makes you feel good great. If hating a fan who has become famous for his ability to get a crowd going makes you happy great. But for the other 79,500 of us, I will say get well brother and come back and enjoy the games with us as soon as you are able. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS
Aren't the fans responsible for "creating" Fireman Ed ? If you didn't respond to him, he never would have become what he is. And to the rest of the league, he was the "face" of the Jets fans. Our unofficial mascot. Like him or not, let the man do his thing. Whether you're in the stands or in your living room, the game is not the same without the chant!
I heard three things: 1. He's mad because of the Westside deal fell through 2. Injured 3. Feud with brother And Doom and Gloom you're right, he was the unofficial mascot of the Jet's. The Jet's chant needs to go on and I think the Jumbotron idea is a great one - that way, everyone is on the same page as to when the Jet's chant starts.

See Thats what I am talkin about..T has got the right Idea. We are all in this together, I would take Ed over a lot of the drunken fools who come to just get wasted , rather than watchin football. Ed is awesome! I make it to one game a year and the big thing I noticed last season was the lack of fan participation. It was not like the previous games that I had been to. The J-E-T-S chant are awesome and I truly believe pump up the players. I personally hope Ed comes back, and the fans get back to doing the chant and help us win some football games. Some of us don't need women showing us their tits for us to cheer!!
I could care less about the guy. I'm more interested in just watching the game. I am disappointed with the the idiots that harass women and encourage them to take their tops off. If you need to get your rocks off go to strip club or something. A football game is not the forum for it. It's unfortunate that families taking their kids have to experience this type sophomoric behavior.
If you ask me, the blonde chick in the pink cowboy hat who was on the Jumbotron a bit last year starting the chants is a FINE replacement
OMG, you're Captain Jet? :smile: Actually, if you put the helmet and cape on when you get to your seat you have a better chance of them finding you than if you wait until they focus in on your section. The girl in the pink jersey was probably on there because she stood out with the pink jersey and hat. If you look like all of the other fans, you'll just blend in.
