Has anyone heard of the injury status of Fireman Ed for our upcoming season?

I know a lot of you think he is simply a mainstream camera hog and he does nothing for our team, but seeing how negative and awful it was to be at Jets stadium last year I want him back. Between the 3-5 record at home, the T-I-T-S Gate D drama, Pennington injury booing & the parking pass debacle last year...the Meadowlands is no more enticing to go to then a Taco Bell in Paterson.

Fireman Ed would bring back at least some of the fun in being at the stadium. The weak attempts to show random uninspired fans to start the chant got old by week 5 and dissapated shortly after. There will be no better followup to the first play from scrimmage this year in Week 2 against the pats (when Chad steps back, has all the time in the world, tosses a bomb to Coles who just smoked Jason Webster and catches the ball on the 20 to sprint in for the TD) then Fireman Ed leading 80,000 strong screaming J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS

Anyways...if anyone has any knowledge on his status or whereabouts post here.

No info, but I second the original post. As a season ticket holder, there was a significant drop-off in the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS chant last year. Fireman Ed would be very welcome if he comes back next week.

As much as I hope for his return, anyone willing to donate a game ticket and a dozen beers to the Quack's JETS Chant Fund will see a return of the J-E-T-S Chant. Perhaps to the point of being kicked out of the stadium. Because I'll be doing it before the game starts. And inbetween quarters. And at halftime. During timeouts.

    You get the point.

I never thought he was injured. I think he was pissed at the Jets and decided to blow them off for one year. Either way, I hope he never comes back. He is about face time and no longer represents the Jet fan. My Section, 314, boos him when he asks to chant. Maybe if we win and entertain the fans with some freaking offense the place will not be so dead. I hope it does not take this guy to bring the fun back as you say. Winning is fun

I think Fireman Ed is a tool whose ego got the better of him. We don't need one guy to get the stadium going, we need to stop somebody on a fucking 3rd down or rush for a TD. That would do it. Personally I thought the chick with the pink Coles jersey was fine, she can do the job on the big screen for now.

I like the Taco Bell in Paterson line though, good stuff.

I do not know his status but my two cents......

While I am not crazy over Fireman ED, he is the most recognized fan at the games. Every game, I see "Old Timers" point out to Newbies where he sits and when he starts the chants. For the past few years, they have even put him up on the jumbotron, and stopped playing all background music (Especially after TD's).

Can someone else start the chant? Of Course! But, I doubt that it will have the same effect that the ED chants have. There have been others that have tried to copy and last year, the same few people went up on the screen.

I hope he is back this year. For one of the best cheers in pro sports to go unused or delivered in a lackluster fashion is a great shame.

i hate the fact that this "die hard" goesnt go to preseason games. The excuse "well he might have work" doesnt apply, since newspaper articles back it up saying he doesnt even go to work. I like his enthusiasm, and he does a great job of gettin the crowd riled up, but i have that one gripe, that i will not get over

All of you haters have no idea what you're talking about. Fireman Ed's ego has nothing to do with him not coming back last year. After doing the commercial for the West Side Stadium, he really put his neck out there for what he thought we wud be the better of the team. The team told him they were going to build the West Side Stadium. So after he does the commercial and receives MANY newspaper criticisms, the team Goes ahead and agrees with the GIANTS TO SHARE ANOTHER STADIUM. Any self respecting Jets fan would act the same way he did in this situation. And HOfstra Jet, the idea of newspaper articles saying he doesnt go to work is absolutely rediculous.

So because a deal was going to cost a team billions of dollars and it doesnt go through, he is the one that feels ripped off? Who the hell is this guy. What am I missing here.

Trust me..it was one season and now that he is gone, someone will pick up the slack so everyone can yell the Jet letters and feel all fuzzy.

I, for one, get embarrassed when I hear it but thats my problem.

That's not why he left. He was there the season after the West Side Stadium deal fell through. I hope you really believe what you typed is true and aren't just finding a very weak excuse to vent about a topic that has been done to death on this board.

The reason Ed did not show up last season is because he got in a fight with his brother, the guy who's shoulders he sits on. Until the two of them make up, he won't be showing up. And we won't have a decent J-E-T-S chant going on until he comes back, like him or not.

It would be so easy to find a NEW Fireman Ed. People don't care about him - they just want to do the chant. Whoever runs the Jumbotron during Jets games must be a complete idiot. Would someone in his section please just show up with some goofy hat or something and lead the cheer? Is it so hard?

The better of the team??? A new stadium is for the better of the owner and Mr. Fireman. Doing a commercial, no matter what the cause, unless its for charity, is about $ and fame. I am sorry he was used by the Jets, but its his fault for doing a commercial

He did. I showed the article in the last Fireman Ed thread. Don't feel like getting it again. He was out because of an injury, nothing else. The rumors that spread about this guy are ridiculous.

Agreed. I don't know where the rest of these rumors are coming from. Here's an excerpt from the Newsday story from September:

The injury bug bites again with the Jets. First, we get the news that Justin Miller may be out for the year with a bum knee, and now we find out that Fireman Ed may also be out for the year with a knee injury.

Newsday is reporting that Ed Anzalone had surgery on his knee after injuring it in a fire over the summer.

When he gets tempted to go to the game, he remembers that all it would take is one person jumping on his back in the crowd to further injure his knee, back and neck.

And, in case you?re wondering, he wholeheartedly expects the J-E-T-S chants to continue in his absence. ?Somebody has to pick up the slack, bro,? he said. ?When I get back there, I will, as soon as I can. But there?s 80,000 people, I?m sure somebody can do it ? Tell the fans somebody needs to pick the slack up.?

?Fireman Ed has been around for years making the stadium get loud, by leading the well known ?J! E! T! S! JETS! JETS! JETS!? chants. I think that I speak for all Jets fans when I say that we need him to get back as soon as he is healthy to get the crowd going when the Jets need some help form the fans?

Fireman Ed has a big HEAD. He thinks his shit doesn't stink.

He's not even the orginator of the chant and takes all the credit.

We as fans should voice the chant...not have one guy who's ego has grown thinking he's the rock star.

Agreed. He's a great fan, and he does start a lot of chants...but how hard is it for someone else to step up and get the fans into the game?

I appreciate what he does as a fireman, but it's just really annoying watching him on TV.

    It's somewhat embarrassing.

i dont care for him and i CANT STAND WHAT HE DOES!!!!

he creates a situation where the fans sit on thier hands and wait for him to tell them taht they should cheer. i cant count how many times i have seen him do it while we are on offense and or have just scored. that is NOT WHEN YOU NEED TO CHEER, how about during a defensive stand? maybe? nah not that i have seen and as someone who was a season ticket holder i can say that i have seen my share of ed chants.

he really does hurt the fans because if its not ed up there looking like a moron they dont really even understand when they should cheer. i cant tell you how many fights i almost got into at games because retards would be cheering as we were coming out of the huddle during a drive. OH MY GOD THAT MAKES ME CRAZY..
