No chance. Gholston looks amazing, Thomas never did to me.

The best was Mcshay saying we should have drafted Ellis, even though he doesn't fit our defense.

I was rolling on the floor sorta like this

uh..no..he didn't even have better stats one year in a row.

    Gholston 2007 - 14 sacks, 37 tackles, 15 for a loss

    Long 2007 - 14 1/2 sacks, 79 tackles, 19 for a loss

He did have 3 1/2 more sacks than Long in '06. However he had 8 fewer tackles and the same tackles for a loss.

You guys really need to get your heads out of your asses before spouting off here.

Nobody who would trade a first round pick for Michael Turner has any right telling anyone to get their head out of their ass. Your breath has to smell like your upper intestine by now.

Not to nitpick here, but if he's wrong then what he quoted weren't facts. What all of these analysts do is quote their opinion. Most of the analysts are quite well 'educated' in this field by having contacts most of us can only dream of and having access to reports we wish we had. That said, in the end like us they all just give their opinions, the difference is they have far more resources to base their opinions off of than we do.

When it comes to evaluating players in the draft, whether it's a front office, Coaching staff, Analysts, or fans it's all opinion, the difference is the degree of information and the degree of feel for players talents. Facts are only stats and stats will never tell the full story about a player's potential in the NFL.

I love how McShay said this today...

"Vernon Gholston doesn't fit the Jets scheme, they should of traded up for Glenn Dorsey, even though he doesn't fit their scheme either, but..."

I just stared at the TV just shaking my head at that comment...

I think thats what I was talking about, except he said Ellis, no?

My reaction was the same as yours regardless.

Does anyone on this board actually watch ESPN???

Kiper had Gholston going to the Jets at #6 from Day One. Of course he was going to defend the pick. Otherwise he'd be an idiot to dump on the guy he picked to be the #6 pick! Get with the program!

Bigger news to me was that, on NFL Today (Monday after the draft), Kiper said that Ainge, the Jets QB selection, had the best opportunity for success. Ye, this involves the theory that Pennington is done, and that Clemens is a bust... On the other hand Kiper had a LOT of good things to say about Ainge.

If these guys REALLY knew what they were talking about, don't you think they'd be would have been sitting in some team's war room instead of on the sidelines ?

C'mon! What planet have you been on?

Kiper's been the ESPN draft expert for like forever!

He practically invented the "draft mania!"

Besides, I'm sure he has a better deal than any NFL team could afford to give im.

Kiper was helping make the NFL Draft a major television event while McShay was sucking his mother's teet. How dare he stand up to The Hair.
