Baker is in the right here, making the lowest of the three TE's is very unfair considering how much he's produced for us.

^It still amazes me that every third moron on this site posts this shit without reading the rest of the thread.

rofl. it is kinda fucked though considering bubba franks is nothing but a blocker and past his prime and makes more than twice what baker is. lol

Baker should shut up and play. If he were Antonio Gates or Jason Witten, somebody might care. The team sucked last year at 4-12, and he isn't exactly an elite blocker or receiver.

You are under contract, you should honor your commitment to the team. Period.

How much has he produced? If he was so great and "productive" (how many TD catches over his career), why did our front office feel compelled to:

    1) Trade for Doug Jolley
    2) Sign about 5 TE's to our roster last season (kowaleski, Tutt, etc.)
    2) Sign Bubba Franks
    4) Draft Dustin Keller

I think we needed another tight end anyway. Now Baker is the blocking tight end and Dustin is the pass catching tight end. I think they'll give Baker his money since Drob is gone now and that will be that. I don't see Franks being here after this year anyway.

How does he have a better case? With his 84 career receptions and 12 career TDs over 6 seasons???? With an average year of 20 catches for 200 yards and 2 TDs?? With Anthony Becht gone being the blocking TE on one of the worst blocking OLs in the NFL??? Baker is adequate. That's about it. In his best year, he had 400 yards and 4 TDs. He is very very replaceable. Adequate players on 4-12 teams should not be asking for new, big contracts and should not cry because the Jets drafted to provide him with competition. He doesn't deserve more money and he should just shut up and play. Or go get another job that pays $685,000 a year.

    agreed....he's a so-so player...but not a guy that deserves to have his contract re-done..

Drafting Keller should send a clear message to Baker to either accept his current paycheck with a smile on his face or pack his bags.

Baker blocks OK. He's just on the slow side. I hope they throw him a bone that will shut him up just enough. Stocking up!

Guys, remember one thing while you're badmouthing him.

It's one thing if he's just whining, but it's another thing if they told him they would restructure, and nothing has yet been done.

well even though i dont think Dustin Keller takes his position directly, i think that he indirectly, coupled with Tony Richardson makes Baker have a minor role at best. Think about it, you want with Keller, the 3 reciever set with him in the slot to strech the seams. Then you put in a jumbo set with Richardson to blow up the hole. Not leaving much playing time for him, sure he still would play. Just not worth the pay he wants.

He needs to either shut up or leave..

meh, the "I want to be a bigger part of the offense" argument in fact does have alot to do with..."Are you open?"

I think he's an average TE...but that's about it...Maybe Pennington never looked his way and Clemens is blind, but we went from Richie Anderson catching everything to nobody but wide outs catching the ball and its the offense? Yes we've changed offenses, but he's had alot of opportunities.

Anyone else a little tired of these guys (Coles, Baker, etc.) trying to squeeze extra money out of the Jets after a pitiful 4-12 season where they did little to distinguish themselves? Their selfishness can only hurt the team.

I know Baker may be slightly underpaid, but so are a lot of people.
