The draft that could have been..venting...

Flacco reminded me of Brett Farve, raw but the sky was the limit, yet just like with Farve a team jumped ahead and grabbed him. Not only did I really want him but signing him would finally have proved an end to the pathetic Pennington era. Yet another year of what could have been.

In the 1st round I wanted Flacco or McFadden and since the team blew the call on moving up/dropping back to get Flacco and Raiders beat us to McFadden I will be cheering for the little RB that could and the other less known Tennessee QB.

We missed out on Peyton when he stayed in school and now we get Erik Ainge to try and make us feel better because the FO screwed the pooch on Flacco. Everyone knew we wanted Flacco and someone leaked the trade-up or did we just play it too cheap and get out bid?

Well I wanted Chad gone and Kellen Clemens has shown nothing, he isn't even a descent backup. Yes I gave him a chance and after two seasons on the team he obviously had shown the Jets enough to want Chad around yet another year and they also tried for Flacco because everyone knows Kellen isn't the long term answer. Not even the short term answer. Height joke there.

My two players I'll be cheering for to see on the field are Woodhead and Ainge as I get ready to watch yet another year of a pathetic offensive passing game. I just hope the coaches give Ainge a fair shot at winner the starting QB job, since he can't do any worse than the other QBs we have.

How many Woodhead jerseys will we see on Sunday? I'll put mine next to the Wayne Chrebet one.

We didn't even draft Woodhead and you think he's going to be a starter? I'll be cheering for the guys who actually deserve to be on the field.

Wow. You wanted Flacco in the first round? Give me a break.

I never said he would be a starter. I believe him to be a contributor wether on special teams or offense. I backed Chrebet from the start and he turned out pretty good. I cheer for the overwhelming underdogs.

Yet when you do stack his college accomplishiments up against any one of our other picks he does match up really good. No one year wonder is he.

Not only me but the FO too. They were trying to move back up to get him but the Ravens beat up to it. We were going to get him about the 20-22 pick.

i'm just curious..if we were trying to get Flacco at 22 in the 1st round..why did we then pick a QB in the 5th round?

Didnt know you had backstage access in the war room. Oh thats right the Jets might have been to only team trying to move up for him. Also the Jets were very interested in Brohm according to reports. They passed on him with their picks.

So according to you the Jets wanted and should have traded up to 4 for McFadden and then traded up to 20-22 for Flacco?

The funniest thing is how the title of this thread talks about exciting pickups. Gholston and Keller are much more exciting prospects than a carrer backup in Ainge and a UDFA in Woodhead.

You do realize that if Ainge makes the roster he would be the 3rd QB? And if by some miracle Woodhead makes the roster he would be the 4th RB? I guess you definition of exciting is watching plays study their playbooks and wear headsets while keeping warm on the bench.

    Youth?

I loved Chrebet, and who doesn't appreciate an underdog? Apparently if we drafted 6 o 7 underdogs you would be cheering your ass off this season. Unfortunately we're trying to win a superbowl, and we're going to have to pick the best players available.
