I think the Bears had the worst draft. They clearly need a QB and with all those picks did not select one. Grossman, based on what he has shown, is not the guy. Resume Penny to Chicago talk?
doubt it, the Bears would have tried like hell to get him by now if they wanted him... now post draft Penny has better value on our roster, than in a pick for next year 3 months before training camp...
Pennington is going nowhere. The Jets have improved and no way are they ready to hand the keys to Clemens without a veteran back up. And it would not shock me if Pennington won the job in TC. And there is no veteran back up out there with half the credentials and ability of Pennington, despite what some on this board think. Pennington is limited physically, but his bad 2007 season had as much to do with the dismal OL as anything. The FO and CS are going to give him and Clemens another chance with some blocking, a running game, and a defense that can get off the field and force some turnovers. Let's see what happens in 08 before we play QB roulette.
No chance.. Joe Willie is right.. Don't even be surprised if he's the 2008 Starting QB.. I'm indifferent on him. More times than not i hate his noodle arm, but behind an offensive line, with a real slot receiver, and what should be an improved running game... He might be able to play pretty damn well. I still think Its Kellens job to lose.. but i will not be surprised in the least if Chad is the starter.
I still think Pennington is servicable, i like him better then clemans. I think cleamans has the TIm COuch syndrome. He can throw the ball anywhere just makes stupid decision. i dont know it could just have ben rookie mistakes, but im not pro kellen
And probably the coaching staff of the NYJ. He's probably gonna be the starter in 08,and us solidifying the TE situation is a sign of that. Clemens didn't show anything.
 2 shots at spelling his name right, both shots missed wide right.... I can't believe people can spell Laveranues with no problem, but nobody can spell Clemens.
I wouldn't call 50% 2 or 3 people. While I would definately like an upgrade in QB next year, I think Penny will be just as good if not better then Clemens. Especially with a real line.
IMO,without a doubt. He just requires the team to be bulit a certain way and i think it looks like they are building it around giving him another shot.
Well to be fair, what QB wouldn't find better success with a studly running game, great weapons to throw to and a dominating defense? Honestly the argument can be made that they want to give Clemens a good shot so they can really evaluate him this year, so that they know for sure what they have...
Quote: "...Pennington is limited physically, but his bad 2007 season had as much to do with the dismal OL as anything. ..." I'm not so sure that Pennington is so limited physically. I think you need to take a look at that high ankle sprain he suffered at the beginning of last year. Also, I think you need to look at how he played in the game against the Pats after Clemens went down -- Chad's high ankle sprain had all but healed by then.
I don't think they signed all of those vet FAs to let Clemens lead us to possibly another crap season. I think they did it to let the guy who has proven he can win go at it again. Clemens didn't show anything, not even a trace of evidence that he can be a good qb. But that's my opinion. Some here saw something, some just want to believe they saw something because they dislike Chad as our QB that much.
You can tell that the CS loves Pennington. They drafted his clone. Smart, good pocket passer, not the strongest arm. Just a few inches taller.
