now that, in about 3 picks, the Jets are done, what do you see that fallout that results from the draft. I'll start out with a bold statement: Chad Pennington will not be on the roster come September. Neither will Chris Baker, although i can see them keeping him. We are stockpiling picks for next year and unloading these two guys will help do it. I know its early but i am exited for next years draft.

Chad will be here. Baker . . . depends more on whether he can deal with his current contract than the fact that we drafted a TE.

I honestly think Chad will be the starter this season, and if not we will need to keep him as a backup. Can we really unload him and just hope Clemens doesn't get hurt? Seems like an enormous risk to take, especially after investing so much to win now.

I guess I don't mind unloading Baker, but can Franks block? I'm not too familiar with him in that regard.

The #1 effect to me is that this 4-12 team potentially got WORSE.

Gholston is lazy. I saw his game against LSU. He spent most of it standing still.

Who drafts H-Backs anymore? Those guys are useless. Chris Cooley and Dallas Clark should have taught this FO something.

WTF is a Dwight Lowery or a Nate Garner?

Erik Ainge = Erik the Bust.

    I guess Henry is OK.

Don't tell me you think we're going to have a worse record than 4-12. I think it is very realistic to expect 8 wins this season, if not more.

i think we talked about this last night (everything is pretty hazy in my mind) but blocking at TE will most likely be an issue this year. Don't forget we did pick up Tony Richardson at FB which should help out

It's too early to tell, yet. For me, I would really like to see how these guys do in the off-season program. Will the skinny ones gain some weight ? Will all of the rookies make the team? What about unsigned free agents later this coming week?

Still a lot of questions, but it should be fun.

you are an idiot. Chris Cooley killed us last season.Gholston ????If everything you say is correct, he still caught 14 sacks....What happens when he gets motivated????

Bite your Tongue dooner - If Chad is the starter than we will go nowhere as usual. Baker will be here cause Keller can;t block which is why i think he was a TE in college but will be a WR in our offense.

Hey don't get bent out of shape, I'm not a Chad fanboy by any means, but he is this team's best option right now. We've had success with him in the past, and now he has a respectable line with a solid running game. Not to mention we added a big target in Keller that he can utilize even with his puny arm.

Worst case scenario is he doesn't pan out in the first few games and then we turn to Clemens, but until then give him one more chance. He really had nothing to work with last year since his ass was on the turf all season, you can't blame him. Look at what happened to Brady in the Superbowl when he finally felt some pressure.

Chad in '08, that's what's going to happen whether you like it or not. And I hope you're right about Baker, I love him, but I am still scratching my head on the Franks signing.

It's hard to tell the difference between sarcasm and non-sarcasm in this format. Mainly because the people being sarcastic and the people being serious are saying the same things...

Chad Pennington will be back on the sidelines holding the clipboard come September and Chris Baker will be back in the starting lineup as the TE. So from that perspective the draft hasn't efected much.

If Gholson is lazy, does somebody want to explain how and why he had more sacks this year than Chris Long?

See my post in the Animal thread...this years QB class was extremely clumsy...Gholston happened to be in the right place at the right time by standing still so much.

You can rack up numbers and still be lazy, look at Moss.

    True.

Perfect example of why we shouldn't go after a highly talented player with a lame, general knock that almost always gets overblown.
