Attributes about this guy I love: Tall Above average arm Experienced Mobile Accurate Catchable ball Pretty good pocket awareness Room on his frame to improve raw size and arm strength I remember people on JI hated this guy like all hell...no clue why but better learn to love him now amirite?!?!?
This is by far the Jets' worst pick & a total waste of a draft selection. Not only did they not need another rookie QB, but this Ainge guy really sucks.
I'd rather have line help, thats for sure. Unfortunately Bradway and co. would rather have Andre Maddox, Derek Pagel, Harry Williams Jr., and Anthony Schlegal.
Although I really wanted Goff to land with the Jets I really like Ainge. In my opinion he was part of the 3rd best QB prospect behind Ryan and Henne. Steal. Now lets land Goff in round 6. Please!
Doing an echo of the lifeless turd formerly known as Mayock only makes your brain melt. Be careful. This guy could easily be a Brady kind of steal. Maybe not, but give him a chance. You'll like him.
Well we have 1st and 2nd round picks in our QB rotation right now, so we might as well see what a 5th rounder has in him. My prediction? Another Brooks Bollinger.

Love it. I know he was inconsistent early at Tenn but the games I saw this year I was very impressed. He's every bit as good as Ryan and any other QB in the draft. And I hate me some Danny Ainge!
This pick will be the steal of the draft I think in 2-3 years, he's going to be the starting QB for the New York Jets. He needs to bulk up so all those little nagging injuries that he seem to get are minimized. Otherwise, he's got the size that QBs need to have. He doesn't have a cannon but he'll make most throws KC can make. He's smart and has great, great pocket awareness (he rarely gets sacked and gets out of the pocket well). Basically, he's got the natural instincts at QB that KC doesn't have. For what its worth, everybody on ESPN (Jaws, Mort, Kiper) all love this pick. Cutcliffe was his coordinator, same guy who developed Peyton and Eli. Remember, his WR this season were pretty mediocre.
Brooks has all the skill but the NFL world got too big for another Flutie. This guy is as big as Peyton.
I am a proponent of doing this, too. Problem is I don't like this specific QB. Ainge is, relatively-speaking, wimpy- physically and mentally from what I've seen and I have seen numerous UT games. He is very Elvis Grbacian (read: silly decision making and very frustrating to watch if he is leading your favorite team). I know it is just one play, but the worst pass I ever saw on the college level came in the 2005 LSU-UT game and was thrown by Ainge. I'll try to find a YouTube on that one.
From Rivals.com http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=801548 TODAY'S QUESTION: Which projected first-rounder do you foresee struggling in the NFL? And which player not projected as a first-rounder do you think will be an NFL star? David Fox A co-worker (OK, my boss) suggested I look at Tennessee quarterback Erik Ainge as a potential sleeper. I chuckled a little bit, then took a closer look. On paper, Ainge is comparable over his junior and senior seasons to the quarterbacks ranked ahead of him: Matt Ryan, Brian Brohm, Chad Henne, Joe Flacco, Andre' Woodson and John David Booty. Ainge has the second-highest completion percentage (.001 behind Brohm). He has a better touchdown-to-interception ratio than Ryan and Henne. And he threw for more touchdowns than everyone but Woodson and Booty. Ainge is coming off two years under quarterback guru David Cutcliffe – who coached the past two Super Bowl MVPs (the Manning brothers) in college. Ainge did all this despite just one season with a top-flight receiver. I've watched Ainge enough to realize he has the tools of an NFL quarterback but needs some seasoning and the right system to blossom as a pro. He'll be taken after Ryan, Henne, Brohm and Flacco, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a team get some late-round value out of picking Ainge.
My thoughts, what a steal in the 5th. Same coach who coached Payton Manning and brother Eli Manning as per ESPN. I believe we scored big on this one. Our last pick the CB looks like a bad pick. This definately make up for it. Love this pick, hell yeah!
Guess what? Most players selected in this part of the draft have a greater chance of failing than succeeding. You could look at any player the Jets draft in the 5th round and say he's going to be the next [insert backup player here]. That's where most of them end up. If these guys were destined to be anything more than that they would go earlier. But since they didn't get the guy you wanted let's just write him off from the start.
