I would be more worried about Gholston being a bust than this guy. Not much will be expected of him and everything is expected of Gholston.
Who said he "won't" block, he said he can't block very well. But all of the scouting reports saying he is intelligent and very very coachable. You don't think they will be able to teach him blocking techniques? He is a converted WR that put on 60lbs. of muscle/size in 4 years. That says alot about is commitment. He is very quick and takes alot to take him down. Go look at his highlight reels. What is his purpose? To be a WR/TE/H-back hybrid that can stretch the field and be a threat up the middle. After doing some research and watching videos I get the impression that Keller is going to be The Weapon in the red zone.

Yea thats why the Jets traded up to pick him. To give him money and nothing else. Get real man. He got great hands, he's fast, coachable to improve blocking, and a strong college career. If he was going to be there at the Jets 2nd pick they wouldn't have traded up. Oh but thats right we picked him up to just pay him 1st round money so mission accomplished.
I just love people making fun of him for being both a tight end and for not being like a real tight end... The whole point of taking Dustin Keller is to give the Jets something different. We have average but good enough runningbacks and receivers, Pennington could maybe be an average starter, maybe Clemens could, too, but Keller adds a difference maker. He can be used in the short little flat patterns to get the ball, he could also be used to stretch the middle of the field, to force people to gameplan for a tight end. He can also line up out wide, and we can have a bigger goalline formation lineup with him as the primary receiver. That could be a big lineup with a few guys with soft hands (Baker, Franks, Keller). If Baker leaves, then he has an even bigger role from the start, but I expect us to keep Baker now.

I think another forum needs to be opened for miserable people and you can stroke each other all day long. A first round Tight End is good for two reasons. 1. We have Bakers replacement(You sign it , you better play it)2. Now with three competent guys we can stretch the field. The pressure falls on Shotty (Mr. Tight end set).
