true, could be taller. he's somewhere between 6-2 and 6-3, but supposed to play taller than that. must be a good jumper. i know he's supposed to be real strong and has no trouble getting off the line, even with press coverages. anyhow, if beating NE is the first step in winning the SB, was there another player at 30 that would have been a better pic (on paper)? how about a defensive player at 30?
I'm not sure... Kenny Phillips may have been interesting at 30. Phillips-Rhodes-Revis-Miller(?) would be something. I dont hate the Keller pic... I just dont know much about him and didn't think TE was a real priority for us.
Look at his Combine #'s: His bench press was better than any reciever Vertical Jump would have been second in the reciever class Broad Jump second 40 time of 4.55 shows good speed 20-Yard Shuttle 4th Only knock is he's 6'-2". If he was 6'-5" he'd be a top 15 pick
That's all good and well if he WAS a reciever, but he's gonna be lining up in the middle of the field and getting banged around my LB's. The thing that I read that worried me was that he's not very strong in his release, he relies more on speed to get off the line. I agree... if he was 6'5 instead of 6'2 I would be a lot happier
at first, me neither. what? a te???? but what if he's our ben coats for the next 10 years? nothing gives teams more trouble then a fast, pass catching TE that can't be covered by a LB. it's the hardest thing to game plan for b/c it's rarely seen and line backers just aren't built to cover fast receivers. i know good TE's have been giving NE fits as their LB/S core grows older and slower.
Thats the first thing I thought of when I saw the pick. Bottom line is he's a weapon on an offense that doesn't have many to begin with. Hopefully.
Yeah they're saying he can be kind of like a Dallas Clark type of TE, except he looks to be way more athletic. I'd be happy if he turned out so.
and what better player to put out there against NE, a team that's has struggled of late against good TE's and who's MLB and both safties are getting on. Can you see jr seau or bruschi trying to run step for step with this kid???? no other player on paper at 30 helps us more to beat NE. on a side note, maybe it's time to retire the "manning sucks" smiley face. how sad.
