I think he has a plan to move up in round 3. He gave up a 4th for a TE, and he selected a very good TE, now hes being critised for giving up a 4th. Now this is what I see. I see him trading Baker, and an 09 pick(09 because we have a lot of picks then) to get into round 3. If he gets us into round 3 hes a genius. Then we go from having two 4ths, to one 4th, and now we'll have a 4th, and a 3rd! Guys he has a plan.
I agree there has to be more to this draft than what we have seen up till now. I'm not sure what it is but it may involve player trades. If this is all we get out of this draft and a 4th, 6th and 7th I will be pretty disappointed.
yeah I wouldn't be surprised to see us move Baker, I like him, but if Keller is going to walk in on day one and start, we signed Franks to be a back up, so we might as well do everything we can to move Baker.
Getting into the third will be great. This FO has shown that it is not scared of trading, whether up or down.I hate to give away a pick next year but we seem to be getting at least two picks next year so if theres someone we really want in the third I wouldnt mind at all.
We are not getting into the 3rd round. I don't think we are trading BAker but if they did it wouldn't be for a 3rd round pick. He doesn't have that kind of value if he has any at all.
I like Baker a lot but I doubt he gets us anything more then a 4th - 5th round pick. At best. I think if they were to move back up, they would've tried to sneak back into the 2nd round instead of the 3rd. Could be wrong but I really don't see us having a 3rd round pick in this draft...
I really don't think Baker should be going anywhere, but I think us drafting a TE in round 1 after the guy walked out of team workouts is pretty much a nail in the coffin. Doubt we'll get anything for him in this year's draft, but we might be able to swindle a pick or two in the '08 draft. I hope I'm wrong, because I love his hands and concentration. He could be clutch for us if he were used more often.
He's not a bad blocker either (Baker). Wasn't there all this talk about running big formations with 2 TE and a FB anyway next year?
Tanny was just on ESPN. He didn't say much about future picks. He more or less said it depends on how the board plays out. And as far as who's the QB, he said it's a competition and the best man gets the job. In other words, he didn't say a darn thing!
