Declaring draft winners at the end of day 1 is like making power rankings and record predictions before the draft. Completely pointless.

Yea seriously we had only 2 Picks but Revis and Harris were the only real "Bright Spots" for us Jets fans this past season. I Have faith in Gholston and Keller...Should be fun to see.

    1. Clark isn't THAT good of a blocker, nor has he separated himself from the other elite TE's.

    2. Am I crazy to suggest that...maybe...it's possible for a guy to acquire skills post-draft?

    3. Rashard Mendenhall was projected as a top 10 (15 at worst) pick. What happened there? Guys slide up and down on draft day.

    4. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2003/draft/players/8130.html

    Clark...second round pick drafted in the first...not a good blocker...excellent receiver....intelligent...hard working...could read as Keller's scouting report.

    5. Keller is sick, and a good pass catching TE with the ability to play the slot is a QBs best friend. Keller is going to be huge for this offense.

Actually most mock drafts had him going in the late first round.

i was pessimistic at first about this pick, but with Keller's versatility, he could be so much better then a normal blocking TE with average receiving numbers every year. Think of the mismatches his size and speed will present for LBers and Nickle and Dime backs...

If he turns into the next Gates then it was a great pick. He has the speed and hands to do that but he was a huge reach to take him in the first round. Who cares about Dallas Clark?

I just don't know what you classify this guy as. He is no TE, he can't block. He's not even an H-back. They need to be able to block too and he isn't even a true receiver.

I'm fucked up, but if I was sober I'd think this post still sucked.

Who cares about Dallas Clark? Seriously?

I was anxious to hear who Jets' traded up for & when I heard Dustin Keller. I was very shocked & disappointed. I immediately turned to my tivo'd bowl game...Purdue vs. E. Michigan. I saw that the guy was lined up mostly as a H-back & split wide like a WR in the slot. He was being billed as "The Man". He made a few catches & had a long 60 yd td catch. He can only help yje Jets' & was the #1 TE at his position in this draft. Again...after I got over the shock....I realized that the Jets' only gave up there late 4th rd pick. The Jets' are always giving there picks away anyway....so....

Bottom line...they got 2 good players & they only had 2 picks anyway & they got 2 future starters......So, I guess good job. :jets:

You know as much as i disliked this pick, i would hold my tongue before speaking out on this guy. I mean come on we hardly gave up much to get him, and how many people destroyed their draft by reaching on people. Titans, Texans and Jags had terrible picks in the 1st that they reached on. Come on people lighten up. you act like we did nothing up till now that is going to help our team.

Gholston's motor gets fixed when Bryan Thomas nearly kills him after he takes his first play off..... in rookie camp.

Keller was projected 25-33 on draft day, so he went exactly where he was supposed to. Blocking he "doesn't do" yes, but maybe, just mabye, he might want to do it on non-smash mouth running plays and more of a "i'm caught down the field, might as well throw one more block so TJ/LW can score" kind of block.

Don't like either picks, but what is pissing me off more is the amount of picks we have.
Once again we traded picks away. We now have a 4, 6 and 7th pick left.
Keller??? Is he better than Baker? IS Baker leaving?
    Talk about anit-climax.

That's only if he can't take a step to the left or the right.

How is drafting Ohio State's (no Podunk U's) all-time season sack leader a huge risk or questionable decision. It's like dogging Jonas Salk for failing to cure cancer after he cured polio (you catch my drift). Like complaining that a Porsche 911 gets bad gas mileage. The complaint is that he got his sacks in bunches; well, the game he got the sacks in bunches happened to come vs. Ohio State's biggest competition in the Big Ten: Michigan and Wisconsin. If he picks his games to show up in, he's at least picking the right ones.

Apparently, this kid's 70% (if that's what he is giving, I haven't seen every game myself) is better than almost every prior Buckeye's 100%.

By my estimation, my risk is low on this pick and my reward is through the roof.

The 3rd and 5th round = Jenkins. I can live with that. Its doubtfull we get a started in those rounds, let alone one who is going to fill the biggest need in our defensive front 7 right away.

We have another thin draft class, but have already added several starters this year.

Faneca, Woody, Pace and Jenkins are already going to start. Gholston and Keller should see a good ammount of action if not starting themselves. Thats a hell of an offseason so far. Its taken almost 3 years to purge the roster of the Herm era and get the players in place for the 3-4 and fix the oline problems we were left with. With multiple extra picks in next years draft we can start addressing our depth issues.

how good were our day one picks? this good:

if we don't take gholsten, the 2007 afc champs take him one pick later.

if we don't take keller, the 2007 nfc champs take him one pick later.

hope it translates onto the field!

the pats and the giants were certainly convinced.

He wasn't projected to go in the 2nd round. He was a consensus first rounder.
