    Take that, Chris Baker

Dustin Keller is faster and big and catches well.

    Hello there, Mr. Baker!

What did you want to do with that 12Dec07 contract upgrade we did with you, again?

I called this pick at 4:30PM to a friend of mine. This was the 1st time i thought of him going to us ever, and surprise- he went to us. No blocking, but a pure playmaker at TE. Not a glamor pick, but we needed that seam guy who can also help in the Red Zone. Trust the FO on this one- i'm not LOVING the pick, but i'm liking it.

Deion Sanders said something interesting, "You don't go to the pro bowl blocking."

I hope Baker enjoyed his time here. He's gonna be living somewhere else by tonight.

Why would the Jets give up a 4th round pick to replace a decent TE? If Keller drops to the 36 that's ok, but why give up the kind of pick that had turned into Kerry Rhodes and Leon Washington to do that?

TEs are always overrated in the draft.

    Dont like the TE pick

So we move up 6 spots and loose our fourth pick to pick a TE? When Devon Thomas, Limas Sweed and Desean Jackson are still on the board. If you are going to move up move up because you are trying to fill a need. We could have resigned baker and let's face it we need another WR. I don't like this move at all. I thought for sure they were going to take Thomas or Jackson. Stupid move.

i cant get over how mad i am with this pick. we have a ton of other needs and WE TRADE UP TO GET A TIGHT END IN A WEAK TIGHT END DRAFT CLASS. this is a terrible move when we could have gotten sweed, thomas, or jackson.

    Here's my thinking:

Maybe they compared his catching to the top WRs available, and maybe he was simply the best pass catching player on the board?

Who says they can't just split him out wide as a fat-ass WR ala David Boston (Excusing his obvious flaws) and still have Franks/Baker blocking?
Let's at least give it some time and trust it. Remember... we did have a good draft trading up twice last year. I think they've earned at least one year to see if that was a fluke, or the signs of smart management.

I DO have to say... the kid looked really good on the highlights...

I figure we jumped in front of the Giants who may have taken him. That is the only reason I can see us not waiting.

This TE is a very athletic TE. He will be utilized in the vertical passing game.

Wow. Wow. I pretty upset right now. Philip Merling? Porter? Philips? Flowers? Thomas? Sweed? Hardy? Nah, we'll go with Dustin Keller, and we will TRADE UP for him while we're at it. Wow.
