Just watching the ESPN hoopla on the draft now and earlier today and both McShay and Stinky picked Sedrick Ellis going to New England with the 7th pick (minus any trade downs).

anyone think that Sed. Ellis could replace Sean Ellis (or even Dorsey if he fell)? Or is it the boards impression that Ellis is strickly a 4-3 DT?

I think the knock (from this board) on both players are they are not the ideal 3-4 DE height (6'4"+), weight-wise they are both heavier than Sean Ellis.

Did you listen to what Wiley said? Ellis can't play end in a 3-4 he ran a 5.3 forty, one of the slowest times ever for a top 10 pick. My original thought was that we could take one of the DTs and they would be a solid 3-4 end, but apparently they aren't capable of playing in the 3-4.

They took him but all of them said what they really expect is that they will trade down to NO or somebody who really wants Ellis.

You also need to be a lot taller than 6'0" or 6'1"" to play DE in a 3-4. Which Dorsey and Ellis are.

    SHAUN*

Shaun Ellis was a 4-3 defensive end, not defensive tackle, and he was damn good for a couple of seasons. He's pretty effective against the run in the 3-4, and he should spend the rest of his days in a Jets' uni.

Dre Moore in the second round would be a nice replacement/rotation player.

Ellis was drafted as a 3-4 DE for Parcells too.
