True that he has broken a bit but I think that may have been due to his physical makeup that didn't really fit the system he was forced into, IMO. He just didn't have the size needed to do the job it takes for 3-4 tackle as can be seen many times last year where he was completely taken out of plays. I can't blame D-rob for being worn down by a system he wasn't suited for. Same happened to Vilma, also.
I actually prefer the conditional pick. Personally, I think DRob will be pretty good in their scheme and so I'd rather play the odds that he makes it there and get me a nice 3rd rounder in 09, if possible.
DRob will make a fine addition for the Broncos. Apart from his cap hit, I am very sorry to see him leave the NYJs. I believe he would have fared much better if he had not been subjected to two different coaching regimes with their necessary differences in approach. But he was a great soldier and made the best of what he was presented with. Good Luck, DRob!
This is great news. I hope they get some quality for the lines in that 4th round. Nice deal going into the draft. Oh, and D-Rob...the air is a little thin up there. Don't strain yourself.
That article says both in '09, but ESPN has been wrong many, many times so I guess we won't know til there's an announcement.
If everyone is saying potential late rounder 2009, does that mean a high end of 6 with a low end of 7, or can it be bumped into the middle with a 4 or a 5, that would really suck if he regains his form from the Jason Ferguson years and all we get is a 6
Drob will be missed. He's better suited for the 4-3 because of his size. I wish him luck in Denver and believe he will do really well there.
The Picks are in '08 (this year), Day 2 Updating a previous report, John Murphy, of Yahoo! Sports, reports the New York Jets have formally agreed to send DL Dewayne Robertson to the Denver Broncos for a pair of Day Two selections in the 2008 NFL Draft. Robertson came to an agreement on a new contract with the Broncos that will lower his salary cap figure for the upcoming season. The move saved the Jets over $8 million in cap space. The team is expected to receive two of the five picks the Broncos have between the fourth and sixth rounds.

ok, so its good to see all these reports agree on the compensation. ill wait until the broncos announce they have renegotiated D-rob's contract. at that point, i bet the real deal in terms of compensation will come out...
Robertson wasn't a bad player for us, he just wasn't a dominating player. Especially when we went to a 3-4. He also suffered dearly with the loss of Jason Ferguson.
Are you smoking something? "D-slob" was not coined during his 3-4 days, peanut brain. Boobway screwed it up big time. At least the mess is being cleaned up. Be grateful that this FO is actually at work clearing up the mess.
Also announced in the Jets release about trade The Jets also waived RB Alvin Banks, CB Manny Collins, LB Jerry Mackey and WR Shaine Smith http://www.newyorkjets.com/news/articles/show/2150-d-rob-dealt-to-denver-for-undisclosed-pick
I hope Vilma and Roberston stay healthy this season...we're going to have a bunch of ammo in 2009's draft.
