i dont see anyone starting dorsey and cris long aren't better than ellis or coleman gholston wont start over harris barton pace or bryan thomas mcfadden wont be starting over tom jones ryan wont be starting over chad or clemens any wr wont be starting over coles or cotchery these guys on the draft list would just provide depth at some positions jets big need is someone who can throw the ball providing he can stay up im not sold on woody or moore i would like the jets to trade for derek anderson---would have to give up a lot but well worth it if penny reverts back to 2006 jets have a shot at winning 8-9-10 games and sneaking into the playoffs-----seems to me clemens has a long way to go
mcfadden would see significant time on the field, weather at WR, or RB. this guy is a threat to take it the distance every time he touches the ball. you can bet schottenhimer will get the ball in his hands as much as possible.
"Starting" is an overrated concept. Marion Barber III didn't start a single game in 2007 ahead of Julius Jones, an inferior back, and yet he had a career year and supported a dominant Dallas rushing offense. (And made the Pro Bowl, but not that that matters). Which wide receivers "started" for the Patriots beside Randy Moss? Was it Welker or Stallworth or Gaffney? Did it matter? Chris Long starts wherever we put him in. He starts ahead of Pace, he starts ahead of Coleman, and he definitely, definitely, definitely starts ahead of Bryan Thomas. Gholston starts ahead of Thomas. Man, our seventh round pick-up could start ahead of Thomas and I'd be happy. Woody could very easily lose the starting job if, for some reason, Sam Baker or Gosder Cherilus is the 2nd round pick. They'd have to earn it in camp, but it'd be up for grabs. Ditto Moore, who has the most to lose. Look for a guard pick-up in Round 4 for depth. If that guard is a solid hit, Moore is a back-up. No wide receiver starts ahead of our dynamic duo. Then again, we pick up Limas Sweed, James Hardy or Devinn Thomas and we're in a base 3WR set, so define "Starting." A decent tight end might beat out Bubba Franks and the absentee (although awesome, in my book) Chris Baker. If we pick up Ryan at 6, we trade Penny and there's an open competition at QB. And last but not least, if we draft McFadden, it's "happy trails" for Thomas Jones. Did he produce? Yes. Behind an inferior offensive line? Yes. Is the NFL a business that doesn't give a shit about fair shakes? Hell yes. BTW, everyone who keeps saying DMC and Leon are too small to make a good backfield, you are severely underestimating Jesse Chatman. He was a solid pick-up and we can afford small backs with him in the rotation. (Along with Tony Richardson, of course).
Derek Anderson's accuracy sucks and he choked down the stretch. Whoever we pick at6 besides Ryan would be on the field a lot.
Guys....Chris Long would start. INSIDE. Over Barton. He would be rushing the passer to either side of Jenkins, stright up the middle, not around the edge. Pace and Thomas are your edge guys.
