Live and work in the Baltimore area, was listening to the Baltimore 1300 sportstalk radio and they spent close to an hour yesterday on rumors of a Ravens trade for Pennington. They had Leberfeld on the show yesterday talking about Chad (thats a whole other story. This fool said if he was the Ravens he would trade a #1 for Pennington. He was saying that when a defensive player for the Jets was interviewed and asked who the leader of the defense was, he said it was Pennington. The player said Chad was the one who gets them fired up and energized) Leberfeld guaranteed Baltimore fans a Super Bowl in 3 years if they drafted Chad. I almost flew off the road.

Anyway, they were saying if the Jets were to draft Ryan, then Baltimore would immediately try and work something out for Chad.

Could anyone see the following scenario? Jets draft McFadden or Gholston at 6 and if taking a 2nd round quarterback? Then trading Chad to the Ravens? for a3rd or 4th?

Its just rumors, but a 3rd/4th for him would be sweet. However that'll leave us with no experienced QB. Take a 2nd tier QB and sign someone after the June cuts I guess.

I am all for getting something for Chad, but do the Jets really want Kellen Clemens and Joe Blow Rookie as their top 2 QB's??? Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

your smokin' crack, bud. Pennington is a starter in this league, no matter what the posters to this site say. i'm also frustrated with the Pennington dink and dunk offense, but put a decent line in front of this guy, and he will be sucessful! mark that down as fact.

i'm not saying we should keep/start him, but if we do let him go, we better get a guy in here pronto, who can take the reigns if Clemens is either hurt, or worthless.

we cannot just draft a guy in the second round, and he's our backup. i say trade Chad, if we can get value for him. not just a "bag of horse dung", as you say. what's a starting QB worth to a team like the ravens, who are DESPERATE for a QB? If you ask me, at least a second rounder, plus a player, or a second and 3rd.

I've always like Chad and can absolutely be a starter , however I think you're overvaluing him.

Who in this league is'nt over valued? Look what the ravens paid mcnair, and he was finished when they signed him!

You cannot tell me a playoff caliber, starting QB, to a QB desperate team, like the ravens, is not worth at least a 2nd plus round pick.

If the Ravens are willing to offer us any pick from the 3rd round up, the Jets would be foolish not to take it. Unless they are already convinced Clemens is not the guy they drafted.

I'm not Chad's biggest fan anymore, but I agree he is still capable of starting in this league. Any less than a 3rd rounder, and he should absolutely stay. But to get another high pick for a guy who has already had two shoulder reconstructions, who makes more money than a backup QB ever should, and who relies on more finesse than strength? Come on, you have to be crazy not to make that deal.

Is Chad as bad as he gets a rap for on this board? Absolutely not.

Is he as good as he gets credit for on this board? Absolutely not.

He's worth a third round pick in the draft. Anything more, and you are totally insane not to jump on it.

Pennington stays under virtually all cirustances. He is a winner and a starting caliber QB. If we want to take Ryan, that is fine. But he works behind CP and KC. We don't get rid of CP until we are 99.9% sure we have our next QB. Dealing him anytime before that is just dumb.

Was just walking by the mailroom where they had 1050 on in the background- rumor is now that Baltimore is looking to trade down and draft Flacco in the later part of the first round.

I really think if the Jets do trade Pennington, and I doubt they will, Jets fans are going to be stunned at what they get.

IMO, regardless of what they are saying, Pennington has been on the market, at a very high price, like say a 1st.

If someone is willing to give that up, or a combination of picks, or players they will trade him. If not, they will keep him and let him and Clemens shoot it out in camp.

I'm pulling for Clemens in camp, but I really don't understand all this hatred for Pennington among Jets fans.

I agree, Chad is hands down one of the top three of my favorite Jets all time, along with Kenny O'Brien and Al Toon of course.

Chad is a winner and last year was a fluke. He was injured and the entire team sucked, no QB would have succeeded...seriously hope this FO does not deal him.

Seeing him win it big with another team would be an new all time low for me as a Jet fan.
