Great post. I think if D rob goes to Philly..he could be a pro bowler. Not only does that scheme fit him VERY well. But Philly already has a healthy d-line rotation, which will allow him to take less snaps, allowing his knees to hold up longer.
Bro I'm the one that brought up the fact "did any else hear this" ? No one is accusing you of lying, or making up crap, but I have had "friends" tell me stuff that is just not true. You yourself asked for confirmation. Chill Bro we believe your friend told you this, and hopefully it's true, just trying to get back up
he once had J Abe, Ellis in his prime, and Ferguson around him- he did nothing. He won't be a pro bowler. Patterson, Bunkley, Cole remind me of those 3. He is going to a team who are perennial losers, worse than we are.
Eagles | Team showing interest in Robertson Sat, 19 Apr 2008 16:03:33 -0700 Dave Hutchinson, of The Star-Ledger, reports the Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly showing interest in New York Jets DT Dewayne Robertson. Eh, at least they actually are showing interest...
That was just the start of his career. I dont claim he will be a probowler, but I do believe he'll do much better than here. 10 sacks could be a possibility.
That much everybody already knew. As was already stated he was in Philly this week getting a physical. Is it for a 5th round pick or a trade involving Sheppard? That's what we would all like to know.
We're swapping down??!!! Ridiculous...D'Rob is a lineman and more valuable than a CB. Especially one with an injury history. Also, this board as talked Robertson down to nothing. Robertson would be a force lined up next to Jenkins. The Jets are cutting off their noses here. Finally, we trade out of the top of the 2nd round, we lose out on chance for a lot of top guys, maybe Flacco.
2000: 11-5 - divisional playoff round 2001: 11-5 - nfc championship game 2002: 12-4 - nfc championship game 2003: 12-4 - nfc championship game 2004: 13-3 - superbowl 2005: 6-10 2006: 10-6 - divisional playoff round 2007: 8-8 I wouldn't call them perennial losers, or even close to worse than we are.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/rumors/...lt=AhpZyqMX_risET8OmAq9esmQ2bYF?urn=nfl,77813 We already know the Eagles are interested in DRob and we wanna get rid of him. We also know the Eagles wanna get rid of Lito where as the JETS primary need is a CB right now. So I dont doubt that there were talks about this trade. I actually think there is now a very good chance of this happening. Swapping second rounders is great but we just 'may' have to give up our 4th (Vilma trade) in the process. The swap is almost equivalent to giving up our 5th. Drob and a 5th for Lito may not be enough IMO but the trade could be in negotiation and could possbily be done on draft day. Thats my prediction. I think we now have some value in DRob with couple of interested team which is good since we can now get the most offered for him, fill our need too, and possibly keep all our draft picks. By the end of the draft, DRob and Lito will not be on their current teams and thats the biggest reason why this deal could be in progress.
If we were able to land Lito with only giving up Robertson (who 100% will not be a Jet this year) and a 5th that would be amazing. In the draft I would take Gholston and best WR in Rd 2. The rest of the draft would be pure depth on both lines. If we added Lito and Gholston our D on paper would be top 5 hands down.
He did nothing?!?! During the 04 season, he may have been the best and most consistent of that line, and arguably on that entire defense. Go back and watch the film...sure Fergy was taking the double teams(thats his job as the NT) but D rob was EXTREMELY disruptive, shooting gaps and taking out potential blockers. In fact, if you were to go back to that season on TGG...many posters believed D rob was the best player on our D. Bill Cowher and Marty Schottenheimer were on record as agreeing.
I don't mind getting rid of Robertson to save the cap $$$ and he clearly does not fit the scheme. I don't see CB as a crying need, however, and do not want to move down in the second round and lose a chance at getting Groves, especially if the Jets draft McFadden in the first round. I firmly believe that the Jets need a pass rush and do not need to be throwing millions at CB and RB when the Jets can't get to the QB. Trade Robertson for a 2nd day pick and keep the 2nd round pick.
So you'd rather get a second day pick for D rob than a former pro bowl corner back? If we move down 15 picks in the second round..their should still be a pass rusher available at that spot. Also we cannot baseour entire franchise around one specific need. That's just not good strategy.
