Just saw that the Bears are starting to have issues with their premier MLB due to what Urlacher considers to be an 'obsolete' contract. He has demanded to either have his contract re-done or for the team to trade him. Perhaps this stems from Lance Briggs' new contract, perhaps not. But with Urlacher's current medical 'issues', would it be a better move for the Bears to trade him now or weather the storm of having your best players moan and groan through the course of TC and the season.

That being said and cap-permitting, it would be a pretty juicy proposition to see if we can trade for Urlacher and totally complete the re-vamping of the defense. A Linebacking corp of Thomas, Harris, Urlacher and Pace would quite possibly be the best in the league. Urlacher is quite possibly the best pass defending MLB in the league and it would transform the Jets Defense from a decent and promising one to perhaps the dominant defense that we've all been seeking.

A 2nd and 4th rounder from this year would be the starting point. What do you think.....discuss.

You think that you'll get Brian Urlacher, one of the best LBs to ever play the game, away from the bears for a 2nd and 4th?

Plus he's been nicked up the past couple of years, and looking for more money. Pass IMO.

Bear in mind that he's getting on a bit and has had neck issues. 2nd and a 4th may not be too far away.

    I'm thinking 1 & 3 or 1 & 4 at a minimum.

In any event, I don't think it's a good deal for the acquiring team.

I'll pass- we have too many needs to address via the draft and we can find some very good ILB's in the early to mid-rounds.

Amen, filling needs is what the draft is about IMO.

why not trade our second and fourth for vilma. at least he was a younger, injured, out of position MLB playing in a two gap 3-4.

No way man, not for a guy of his age. He's 2-3 years from retirement at best. The Pats got a disgruntled Moss for a 2nd day pick. Great veterans can be moved for peanuts if they give their current team an ultimatum.

FFS, look at what we got for Vilma, a young all-pro MLB when in the right system.

I'd love to get Urlacher. The impact he would have on Harris would rival the impact Faneca is going to have on Brick and Mangold.

My thought reached out to vilma too. I mean, if Vilma could be taken with 4th this year, and 4th next year (or 2nd) why shouldn't the same deal work for Urlacher?

If they can pull the same deal (4th this year, 4th next year - or if he does well, 2nd) I'm all for it. Basically, you're replacing Vilma with Urlacher.

The same deal won't work for Urlacher because he is a much better player than Vilma has ever been. Obviously Vilma has more years to play, but Urlacher has always been a better LB. I don't think we can afford him anyway.

urlacher is the player that represents the bears franchise right now...it would take a team completely overpaying to pry him away from the bears
but lets say...urlacher gets hurt in preseason...bitches all year long about the bears during a losing season
and then during the next offseason he asks for more money and threatens to hold out
then maybe i could see him having the value to go after and take the risk....in this clearly not going to happen scenario
but until urlacher falls out of favor with both the fans and management...it won't happen, b/c urlacher is all that bears fans have right now

Did Madden 2008 inspire this post?

How is this Madden bullshit? Would you not have said the same about Moss to the Patriots for a mid round pick?

If Urlacher demands a trade, we have the ammunition to be a suitor. We would instantly have an elite LB unit, so why not?
