hehe...this will make half the people here happy and half of them miserable.

"The Jets can't get enough of Darren McFadden. Team officials have met with the dynamic running back at least three times in the past month, including a night on the town.

McFadden, who made an official pre-draft visit to Hofstra on Wednesday, was escorted by team officials to dinner and to a boxing event at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan. He was introduced to boxing analyst Teddy Atlas, a Jets' special assistant.

It may seem like the Jets are trying to impress McFadden - shouldn't it be the other way around? - but it's actually part of a thorough background check. If they select him with the No. 6 pick in the April 26 draft, they want to be certain his off-the-field problems at Arkansas (two nightclub altercations and paternity issues) don't undermine their investment."

  2. I don't think they're trying to impress him. They're making sure they ddo their homework on him. Frankly, all they did was send a position coach for a one on one meeting a month ago, talked to him at the combine, talked to him at his pro day, and now had him do a visit to team headquarters. Doesnt seem out of the ordinary to me.

    Nothing new here.

I would be willing to bet money that if Darren McFadden is on the board at #6...the New York Jets will absolutely select Darren McFadden. No questions asked...100%

We would be getting a truley dynamic player who makes plays ALL OVER the football field and he will be the biggest addtion to this team and will add alot of excitement.

    Yeah...

Either the Jets are doing a thorough background check with this kid or they are putting up the thickest smokescreen ever.

Yeah, seems like they are really trying to know if he is a pick they would want.

    With Darren McFadden available.

With the sixth pick of the NFL Draft...the New York Jets select...Matt Ryan out of Boston College.

I swear, I will make the 6'o clock evening news.

Given all the other guys we want are gone (chris long, gholston) let's hope this guy is still around at 6 for us to take.

Oh boy...I think would join you because that would be a HORRIBLE PICK and I do not throw the "bad pick" phrase out there a lot.

I will preface what I am about to say by saying my first choice for our 6 pick is no question Darren McFadden.

But, Matt Ryan is the one if he reaches his full potential can help us the most becoming a championship team. I'm not convinced that Ryan is a franchise type QB but if the FO is then I would be more than happy taking him at 6.

I wonder how many illegitimate F-Trophies he has in NY from that night out on the town?

The only way you would see me on the 6pm news on draft day is if they pull some Miami Dolphins/Ted Ginn Jr type stuff...but never the less I actually was ecstatic when the Dolphins embarrassed themselves last year..i'm just praying this doesn't happen

Agreed. QB is a position that is shaky on the Jets, so yeah, in due time, I'm sure this pick will pay off. However...

...I don't think it would be the end of the world pick for me if Gholston and McFadden are GONE by #6. At that point, I'd welcome any teams who want to move up first, then consider the CB situation (which I think we be a better option of going at this time).

If after all this was properly discussed, number-crunched, and played out in the minds by the CS & FO and they still didn't think a CB is in the best interest of the team to take and they select Matt Ryan, then I don't think I would be that upset by this pick. But only if all of the other behind the scenes scenarios played out in that exact order prior to taking Ryan.

It's not a damn smokescreen. Why does everything have to be a smokescreen? Why can't it be what it is? We like DMC a lot, we're taking a deeper look at his character to see how he'd fit in. We also like Gholston a lot, and probably Ryan, too.

The ultimate best case scenario for this team is for Clemens to step up and be great (or Pennington to be average). If Ryan can be our franchise QB, and the other 2 guys are gone, yisman is right, he would have the most importance on this team if he were to live up to his hype. I just don't think he's worth that high a pick. He can be your franchise QB, and he's starting to grow on me, but is he that much better than what we think Clemens can be? I don't know.

I agree with you. It's not a smokescreen. A lot of people were saying Miami and Jake Long was a total smokescreen, well, that deal is close to happening now.

I'm fairly confident the Jets will not pass on Darren McFadden. There's nothing wrong with the Jets doing their due diligence on a draft candidate. It's difficult to execute draft deals and based on value and the pick we currently have, the Jets will take the best player available and that could very well be Darren McFadden.

Too much work to be a smoke screen. I mean it's too the point where they are wasting time more time with the fake then looking at the people they should be drafting. I don't buy it one bit.

I agree. I think it is a smokescreen. I think we are going to forfeit our pick and stay back in the second round....Grow up guys...

Arent we going to do any homework? If the Jets wanna invest millions of bucks, wouldnt they wanna know what type of guy he is? Media will pick on you even if got a speeding ticket. Honestly, how many people here 'dont' speed? You need to go one on one with the person and get a 'better' idea. It still may not even be enough but you put yourself in a better position to make the call. I would have the guy I wanna pick, visit us 10 times than to throw a smokescreen, have the guy visit us 10 times, and end up with a Ricky Williams type of guy.
