I'm not sure. I'll google it and see what I can find. I don't believe the game was televised. A lot of people say that it absolutely was still rising and the fact that it bounced back to the infield makes that very conceivable. The Daily News claimed that too. I think I once came across that article, I should be able to find that one. I think they said Arod's was 460 feet. edit. Can't find any film of it and I can't even find the original Daily News article now. I think if there was film we would never stop seeing it on YES. In looking for it I came across a quote by Tony Kubek who described it this way. "It wasn't a long fly ball, it was a high line drive that never stopped rising until it hit the facade".
I really hope we show no interest in Sabathia after this season is over or at the break. He is going to wish he took that offer when this year is over. That's what happens when you don't keep yourself in shape these days.
Joba Chamberlain's father's health had significantly improved by Wednesday afternoon, according to Yankees manager Joe Girardi, and Chamberlain could rejoin the Yankees' bullpen by the end of the week. http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news...t_id=2534241&vkey=news_nyy&fext=.jsp&c_id=nyy That would be great news on all fronts.
Yeah, I'm sure if there were film it would be in our faces all the time. Too bad this happened in the days before hand-held recorders. Yeah, seriously. I have no desire for the guy. Awesome. I don't even care about him getting back to the pen. I'm just concerned with his father. I lost mine young, so I understand the pain. Whenever he gets back, so be it. I just hope it's under the increasingly better circumstances.
I was just thinking about this the other day. Whatever happened to distance estimates? Just a couple years ago it would come up on the screen where the pitch MPH was, and now they shun it. I miss that.
Yeah, I remember as a kid that they'd at least tell you by the next inning what the "official estimate" was for the hit. Obviously you don't need one for every single homer, but I think it'd be interesting to see numbers for guys like ARod, Manny, and Ortiz. You'd figure it should be really easy these days, what with all the different camera angles. They should be able to give an official number very close to perfect.
Just over the old left center field wall. That's what the announcers were saying when they mentioned 460.
Damn, I hate watching Mussina. He already looks nervous and it's only the first batter of the game. Haha..then he hits him anyway. This is going to be another marathon.
Actually, a few have, how about you? I can't remember any when I was watching the Yankees and Mussina was pitching though.
Now it's getting funny. I remember the days when Moose owned Manny like no other pitcher. Now he can't contain him.
