im not high on drafting a qb that early this year, a de/lb, cb, and a wr need's to be addressed in the 1st 2 rd's,

but if we can somehow get back in the 3rd rd, and flacco or henne is there, then i would do it

I'm not incredibly excited about this mock but I don't think its terrible. I agree with an earlier post that Lofton instead of Avril would improve the mock. The Harry Douglas pick in the 4th fills a need too if he actually falls that far. Kinda indifferent to the JD Booty pick but its not horrible.

Avril is from Purdue, all they do is produce OLB/DEs that wreak Havoc, good pick.

Booty- all i've heard is that he's maxed out in terms of upside and while many compare Ryan's arm to Chads, he is the next Chad Pennington- game manager, not a playmaker. I'd like a playmaking QB for once.

DMC is fine, the later picks are ok as well.

We had a player in the 90's named John Booty Safety.

You guys are a bunch a cry babies...

If that is how our draft turns out I will be thrilled.

Booty gives us another young arm to potentially backup KC in the future.

    McFadden is McFadden period.

Cliff Avril would be a GREAT pickup in the second round. We still need some depth at OLB and he would be great.

Don't be so whiny jets fans.

I would, especially if we don't pick Gholston.

Avril played both DE and OLB in college...6'3 253...ran a 4.51 at the combine...27 bench reps...32 inch vertical...36 at his Pro day...6.90 cone drill....had 6 1/2 sacks last year...extremely intelligent when I heard him talk...versatile and can lineup inside and outside in a 3-4...high motor...15 TFL, 4 FF, and 3 FR last year...sick athlete...

He's actually in my top 3 for 36...

We'll never pick a fairweather QB. Mangini has even said it on occasion that he likes QBs that have played outside and could handle GB in december. Thats JDBooty out then

Just because the guy hasn't played in that kind of weather doesn't mean he can't play in it.

Everyone always used to say that Brett Favre loved to play in the cold, but he admitted that he HATED playing in the cold.

I know nothing about Booty so I can't comment any further.

DMAC is someone I do not want to see as a Jet, for many reasons. This has BAD written all over it and no I am not joking. I don't even feel he is worthy enough to go in the top 10. Blah...

Avril is my favorite linebacker in this entire draft. He is by far the most well rounded lb in my eyes, I am sure some would disagree but I truly feel this way.

I have not seen much of Booty but from what I did see, I was not throughly impressed.

They are only picking ahead of us at this moment in time. Lots of analysts think the Jets will trade up in the second round for a shot at Flacco or another QB. If we do end up trading down at #6 we might even trade back up to the bottom of the first round for a QB..or so go the rumors.

Of course this comes from the 10 trillion analysts that say the Jets must fix their QB problem before they can ever be taken seriously.

The one game I remember about Booty was having a hand in the Jets first ever win against the Steelers in 1988. I think he blocked a punt or something to that extent......

Favre might have hated it, but he could get the job done.
Booty might be able to handle it, but hes NEVER played in anything outside of barmy BBQ weather, so he would be a risk, moreso.

Flacco makes sense. With the strongest arm, by far, of any of the top QBs and having played close to NJ he is the ideal guy for the wind and cold conditions of Giants stadium in December.

If Gholston and DMac are gone I would go with Ellis over CB in round 1. Assuming of course C. Long is off the board and that Ellis can play DE
