The Jets Apparently won't draft Matt Ryan, even with a gun to their heads

I agree. I think they should have taken whatever they could get for Andersen, who benefited greatly from a terrible schedule and threw a lot of big INT's down the stretch. Keeping him was founded in the franchises obvious fears that Quinn may be a bust, founded solely in their previous inability to find top ten talent. His value has nowhere to go but down, and I find it highly unlikely that the Browns will repeat last year's success. This was a total crisis of confidence decision, and now they're never going to get equal value for Quinn. They'd probably be fortunate if Andersen got hurt. That's about the only chance Quinn has to be of any real value to them.

Makes me  that so many 'respected' posters here would spit their baccy out if we chose a QB over an RB. We need a good QB far more than we need a good RB.
Both have a question mark with regard to NFL capabilities, but I'll bet that Ryan stays around alot longer than McFadden does.

If you could without a doubt upgrade the QB situation in this draft that would be one thing. It does not appear to be the case with this draft's potential though.

Good, i never really expected them to consider him, but i said to my friends if the Jets draft matt ryan ill find a new favorite team. IMO drafting him would be the only way to fail with our first round pick.

Id be happy with DMC Gholston Longs, One of the top corners DRC Mckelvin or even Kieth Rivers.

No way! Look what Anderson did the last half of the season. It was not pretty and I think it will continue as teams get film on him. Quinn will be the starter at some time this year in Cleveland.

Wow, way to stand by your team. So if they take him and you pick a new team, will you at least stop back to let us know who it is?

i agree with Jetzz in that neither Matt Ryan nor any other QB in this draft projects to be a future Franchise QB, let alone, worth the #6 pick.

guys like Palmer, Eli, Rivers, Young, were all guys you could look at and say, "yeah, any one of these QB's can put a team on their back and take it to the next level," and therefore, they warranted top 5 selections.

do people really see that in Matt Ryan; or is it more of the Jets question mark at QB coupled with a weak crop of QB's in this draft in which Ryan is at the top?

I won't beat about the bush, I'm a Ryan advocate.
C'mon now, Eli was a bust until..oops the superbowl. None of the others have have done diddly yet.
I've watched Ryan play in most BC games this year, and if hes average, that makes CP and KC even more ineffectual.
A poor running game, and at best average receivers, how did BC win so many games?
Mayock (whom I respect) is High on Ryan and down on Mcfadden, why? Well boys and gals we're going to have to wait and see.
Me, I'll be happy with any of the top 6 picks.

There is not good QB talent in the 2nd round, except maybe Joe Flacco. I simply have not seen Flacco play enough to form a proper opinion. Everybody else on this board would have to say the same thing or they are lying. Nobody watches Delaware football. I mean, c'mon.

Yes, I am comparing Ryan to Manning and Roethlisberger.

In the way they control their offence I take? I think that Manning and R'berger have more of an arm.
But, for some reason people are of the opinion that Ryan is Chad, No Ryan is more like Chads head on Clemens body, except he can make intelligent decisions not based on rounding up herds of cows

I think Ryan is at least going to be as good as Matt Hasselbeck and Eli Manning. I believe Ryan will lead a team to a Super Bowl. I expect him to be a top tier QB. Therefore, I am willing to make comparisons to current top tier QBs such as Peyton Manning and Roethlisberger.
The comeback win at Virginia Tech was huge. It showed Ryan has guts and can succeed in pressure situations.
He comes off incredible in interviews. You can tell he is a great leader. He reminds me of Peyton Manning in that sense.

Gholston is a one-trick pony and I'm not sure he's going to succeed at that one trick (rushing the passer) in the NFL.
