Dave Hutchinson (or "Hutch" has Mangini calls him) has made it clear that the Jets will not drat Matt Ryan, because he did not receive an invite to the complex. So people like me, who thought it was a small chance, now know it is no chance.

    Here's the Article:

His other comments could either make you smile or begin to type in a furious manner.

I find his most interesting comment to be - if there is a level playing field there is no way Clemens will beat out Penny in the training camp competition...

I believe this also. As much as everyone want Clemens to be the guy, and as much as it makes sense for Clemens to be the guy given Penny's age and injuries....if Clemens is simply not the better QB and cant win the training camp battle he simply will not play. However, you cant draft a qb in the second round such as Flacco or Henne without first knowing the outcome of the training camp battle. What happens if Clemens wins and starts to shine this year AND you drafted a QB in RD 2...now you look stupid as shit for trying to hedge when you had the guy in Clemens on your roster all along.

But like I said, I think Penny is the guy for this team and In Chad I Trust with this new O line and built up Defense.

The only part of what Hutchison wrote that I disagree with is his take on the QB situation.

Hutchsion said "If there is a level playing field in training camp this summer, there's no way Clemens will beat out Pennington. Sure, Pennington doesn't have a strongest arm in the class, but he has proven he can win in this league."

Now, I am a huge Chad supporter, but if Clemens shows signs of progress from last season, the job will be his. Chad will be efficient in camp as we know he can be. But if Kellen moves the ball and gets the team in the end zone, he will get the job.

Pennington is a great leader and a smart QB....we all know this. But we also know that he couldn't throw a fucking lawn dart across the back yard. Why do people keep insisting that he's the answer to the Jets' QB woes....don't they understand that he's part of the reason why there ARE QB woes to begin with??!!

c'mon guys....it's time to let go. I'm praying that Pennington becomes a draft day trade.

i'm really happy, even though i don't necessarily think it means anything, that we'd pass on ryan. i'm a little curious, though as to why they would'nt bring him in, even if they were'nt interested? whatever.
i would love to be able to grab flacco, in the second round. i think we should be aggressive in our pursuit of him, trading up if we have to.
also, i heard on serius, yesturday, that the bengals are getting back into the d-rob sweepstakes. let's hope we can use this to our advantage, and grab a little better pick.

I may be speaking for myself here, but I don't think anybody who is saying that Chad will be behind center THIS year means that he'll be our QB NEXT year. As of right now, Chad IS the best QB we have. If Chad becomes a Draft Day trade, then we will be putting more pressure on Clemens to make plays. Now, this is a league where we expect these kids to grow up over night, and this investment on the Oline SHOULD help, but seriously...you think an un-proven Clemens, Ratliff or a Rookie competition will get us to a Wildcard game this year?

but what's the alternative? Dink n' Dunking with Pennington in 2008??

if Clemens can't deal with pressure to make plays...then he's in the wrong business. But having said that....I believe Clemens WILL deal with the pressure, and will flourish with that new rebuilt O-line. Unproven or not....really, the only thing Clemens has proven is that you can't win with a shoddy o-line/run game...

Pennington beating KC for the job is laughable and I think KC is pretty shitty. I guess the penny faithful haven’t lifted their lips from his nut bag long enough to realize that penny didn’t beat KC for the job last year. KC was better prior to game 1 and given a fair, open, honest QB competition should have started.

Pennington will not be on the team in 08. We’ll get a late round QB, bring in a cheap vet and part ways with the failure we affectionately refer to as penny.

First off, it seems like a smoke screen, or grasping at straws by Hutch. I hope we get one of Long or Gholston to fall to us, but if not Ryan is a possibilty.

These quotes follow the article. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?

Seems that the pre draft visit means squat if this is true.

I hope Clemens does flourish. But this article is already giving Chad the thumbs up and the green light. I mean, it wouldn't be the absolute end of the world for me to have Chad under center for 1 more year. It will be, however, be the end of the world if come next year's Draft we don't address the QB situation with our 1st if not 2nd earliest pick. Then, I'd be happy to join u in your argument that Chad IS adding to the woes and that if the FO is infatuated with the guy, then they really need to let him go.

That would seem a more telling sign to me. I still belive Kellen can do the job, but would not mind some insurance being brought in.

if KC can't beat out Chad in training camp, the Jets should not only draft Ryan but should trade up to number one to make sure they get him, because the team is apparently screwed with the two QB's on the roster.

You forgot to put the " " after your post to represent sarcasm. If you forget this crucial step, people are going to think you're being serious.
