Devin Thomas - WR, Michigan State

If the Jets can trade out of the #6 hole and move down into the teens this is the big/fast receiver we've been looking for. 6-2 215 solid and a 4.40 40 at the combines. 75 receptions for 1,226 yards and eight touchdowns in his only starting season at MSU. He's a YAC guy too - something I look for. He's also a great KR averaging 29+ per return.

Scout.com says he's the kind of player on the outside who makes everyone better! I love reading that.

If we can trade down, he'd be my first choice with the first #1 pick...

I agree, although I think he very well might be gone by the teens.

if we can't work the deal to sit and get him, i'd take dexter jackson on day 2- in 3 years he will be a beast.

I'd rather go defense. Just don't think WR is a top 5 need. I think I read that Thomas did alot of damage on bubble screens too.

We could get Hubbard out of Wisconsin in the 2nd possibly 3rd round and he looks to have a lot more upside. We wouldn't need him to be a stud immediately with Cotch, Coles, Smith and possibly stuckey. They are basically saying he is a fast marques colston...

    His rookie scouting profile:

Paul Hubbard, Wisconsin: I think Hubbard is regarded as a project with raw skills, but from
what I saw on film he was fluid athlete who caught the ball in traffic, adjusted well to throws
and snatched the football, and could run through hits for extra yardage. Running a 4.46 at the
combine was impressive to me because it confirmed how good of an athlete he appeared to be
on film for a 6-3, 224-lb receiver. Remember Larry Fitzgerald is about this size and he’s closer
to a 4.6-40 guy. If you’re looking for player with potential to be what people expect from
Limas Sweed and Malcolm Kelly but at a bargain rate, Paul Hubbard could be that guy.

There shouldn't even be talk about trading out of the 6 spot with the Pats sitting at 7 until at least we are on the clock at the very least.

I can't understand the idea of the Jets drafting in fear of who the Pats will take. The Jets should draft in their own best interest, period. And if that means trading down if an opportunity presents itself, so be it.

I'm all for taking a WR on day 1. The more weapons we have the better.

I don't think any of these WRs are worth drafting in the 1st round.
The 2nd round is a different story.

I agree...but because this class is so weak, a couple of them will go a lot higher than they should.

I'm all for taking someone like James Hardy at the top of round 2...and guys like Mario Manningham or Donnie Avery later in the second round if we're somehow able to acquire an extra 2.

Paul Hubbard is projected to go extremely late, and he might not even get drafted.

There are at least 15 wideouts that should be drafted ahead of him. He's a solid player, but he's not close to being a second or third rounder. If he's a "fast Marques Colston", then he'll probably fall to the 7th like Colston did. Hubbard doesn't have great height like Colston, but he is fast...and he is big.

I fell in love with Thomas at the combine, he reminds me of a bigger Lee Evans...BUT...I think I'd be OK with someone like Jordy Nelson on Day 2. I don't see WR as such a super need that we have to use a first or second on one...especially since our first and second round picks have so much value at other positions (front 7 specifically).

I would much prefer waiting until 36 to take a WR...something in my gut tells me someone will be there. Maybe James Hardy.

I like Thomas, but he's honestly going to get overdrafted and I wouldn't want to reach for him. I do think that we need some good WR depth however, and my favorite options are to go either James Hardy at #36 or Jordy Nelson with one of our 4ths.

Hardy's been discussed to death here and would be a perfect red zone compliment to Cotch and Coles at 6-7. He ran an unofficial 4.47 40 at the combine too, so the guy's got some decent speed as well.

Nelson's come onto my radar the past few weeks after stumbling upon his incredible game against future first rounder Aqib Talib. Nelson's got very soft hands, good size, and a quick burst to boot. He also has a knack for making clutch catches and reminds me a ton of Chrebet.

I also wouldn't mind taking a late round flyer on Marcus Monk.

Another WR prospect I'm starting to like alot is Cameron Colvin. He's got some Anquan Boldin in him, and honestly I think our want for a WR with a specific attribute (size and/or speed) is overblown.

if hardy who is 6'7 with pretty good talent is there when we pick in the 2nd round, we draft him, nuff said. I dont think we should trade out of the 6th spot to draft a wide out.

He WAS 6'7 according to Indiana's coaches. He's something like 6'4 1/2 or 6'5...which is still tall for a wideout that runs a 4.5.

I Like Thomas too , Hopefully we can grab em in the second round but theres no way he will be there , If we trade out of 6 and get a couple 1st rounders or a later 1st rounder then i would draft em.
