If you were the Jets front office what would your top 6 draft board look like? For me it would be: 1) Chris Long 2) Jake Long 3) Glenn Dorsey 4) Vernon Gholston 5) Derrick Harvey 6) Branden Albert I want nothing to do with Mcfadden. We have three running backs and I don't even think Mcfadden is the best every down running back in the draft. Also while Matt Ryan may be very talented we drafted Clemens two years ago and it's way to early to declare him a bust. If we draft Ryan it would be another 2 years for him to develop. Any of these 6 players are fine with me.
1.Chris Long 2. Jake Long 3.Vernon Gholston 4. Darren Mcfadden 5.Glen Dorsey 6.DRC 7.Leodis Mckelvin 8.Branden Albert 9. Sedrick Ellis 10.Keith Rivers Please NO MATT RYAN any of the top 7 i would be happy with.
I want nothing to with Glenn Dorsey. McFadden wouldn't have to be an "every-down" back if we drafted him. I think Darren McFadden and Thomas Jones would be a better duo than Chester Taylor and Adrian Peterson. Thomas Jones is just so much more powerful than Taylor, so McFadden would be the perfect compliment to Jones' game. If McFadden falls to 6, we have to take him. We might not "need" him, but he has the ability to help us the most. FOR THIS JETS TEAM: 1. Jake Long: He's the closest to being a "sure thing". 2. Chris Long: I love his versatility, and his motor. He's my favorite player in this draft. 3. Darren McFadden: He would give our offense instant credibility behind our new offensive line. 4. Branden Albert: The best guard in this class, and Brandon Moore looks worse every day. 5. Vernon Gholston: Pass rush specialist, but I'm comfortable with Pace and Thomas. Depth couldn't hurt though. 6. Leodis McKelvin/Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: Both have potential to be big time players, or big time busts) 7. Matt Ryan: I'm not ready to give up on Clemens yet, but Ryan is a very interesting prospect.
If the Jets come out of this draft with another offensive lineman in the top 10, Tannenbaum needs to be fired before the Pats even make the next pick.
1 Chris Long 2 Vernon Gholston 3 Jake Long 4 Derrick Harvey 5 Keith Rivers The Jets are not drafting a one gap 4-3 DT like Dorsey or Ellis. The Jets are not drafting a QB. The Jets are not drafting a guard with the 6th pick. The Jets are not drafting a running back with the 6th pick. The Jets still need a pass rush and to shore up their run defense. All this talk about trading down is a joke when you need someone who want to trade up. And it is not the end of the world to take a player like Harvey at 6 when the "experts" have him pegged in the 9-15 range. Drafting is not an exact science. Would people be complaining if David Harris was picked 6th by the Jets last year. He sure played like a top 5-10 pick.
Branden Albert will likely wind up playing left tackle, but maybe not as a rookie. Pennington is not the answer and Clemens didn't show much last year except that he is inaccurate. Matt Ryan is going to be a better pro QB than them. I am not crazy about drafting RBs in the 1st round.
Thank you...and I would say the same about a DT that they "think" may be able to play DE in a 3-4. (Dorsey, Ellis)
1. TRADE DOWN ( Mendenhall, McKelvin, DRC, or one of the other CBs, Merling, Albert, Stewat, Rivers, Conner, or da best WR or RT 2. C Long 3. DMC 4. J. Long 5. V. Gholston 6. L. McKelvin 7. D. Harvey
You're kidding, right? Trading down is a higher priority than getting Chris Long? Good thing you aren't the GM. That move would rate up there with moving up to get Robertson.
our cap is high a trade down saves us over 4m i think and Long Gholston and DMC will probably hold out for #1 money....the talent drop isnt that dramatic...But Chris Long might be the only exeption...i would be happy if we grab C Long....but I would rather trade down then take anyone else
i like him better than one of the corners or dmc if the longs ang vg are gone 1 c.long 2 v gholston 3 j long 4 d harvey 5 mckelvin 6 dmc
