There 5 #1 draft choices Santana now a Skin Thomas Junkyard player Jolly Oh where oh where is he now? Vilma Now an Aint DeW Another junkyard player Now you know why we do not win WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPs. 5 squander #1 picks in 5 years surely a good record for the NYJs FO to be proud of.
You were ok until you tried to stretch it for Jolley and did not include Nugent who was part of that trade. It just shows your bored and want to start a vent thread. I thought maybe you were going to congratulate him for snagging Rhodes in the fourth round or put a positive spin on vilma who was a great player in their scheme and universally revered as a great pick.
Champ, we know... this is nothing new. Moss became good when he had a QB with a cannon, two busts in thomas and DRob, Jolley doesn't count because i block out that memory, Vilma is a great 4-3 MLB. Lets look at the positives of today's regime: Brick-- Solid LT, still has upside- can get better Mangold- becoming our Mawae, see you in Hawaii sooner or later. Revis- See you in Hawaii, again and again and again. So far so good. Who cares about Herm and Bradway? I'm looking at Eric and Mike.
Sorry my fellow NYJ fan you err IMHO when you do not take into account what could have been if we had not squander those picks during the previous era. Also BTW your over evulating of JV is actually quite laughable. Concerning the new regime the Brick so far has been nothing much to write home about now has he? What about AS the 3 rd rounder who we cut? Also there evulation skills on the strenght of players that were here left something to be desired also. Pointing out 1 player in 5 years actually shows how disgraceful there record was
Yes. i know. it was bad. Lets look towards now, i'm not going to talk about the shitty past of the NYJ.
I don't think this is a junk thread. I think he makes a very good point. It is a total failure for a team to draft a player in the first round who isn't a solid contributor. Even if you're picking 32nd, and 31 other players have already been taken, there are roughly 1,000 legitmate prospects left and around 300 players who will go in the draft. If you're scouts can't identify one player from that talent pool, somebody isn't doing their job properly.
I guess you forgot: Jerricho Cotchery Kerry Rhodes Justin Miller Mike Nugent Chris Baker Victor Hobson it is easy to point out 1st round failures, when you neglect the overall draft..
Are you serious? That's what you're going with. That's BS. Moss was a good player who Hackett didn't use correctly. The Offense was uber-conservative and didn't allow Moss to do what he did best, Run around the middle of the field. He did in Washington and was explosive...and oh, btw. That's what he did in college too so there's no excuse for it. Cannon arm qb...wow..
Santana Moss was never a great Wr and he still isn't a great WR. He has had one good year and one really good year, not excatly the production you expect from a top 15 pick WR.
He wasn't a 1st round pick. But i did think about putting him in there to prove a point. He was touted as NE's 28th overall selection last year, which pissed me off because i knew about this kid and didn't want to face him. He does deserve to be in the conversation though, because he is 1st round talent that slipped through the cracks. I remember when we got him, i was drunk at 6 flags in NJ and my friend calls me who is not a big draft guy and says "we got that guy harris from michigan. What do you know about him?" Well, i scared a few children and some teenage kids looked at me like i was crazy but i was that happy that he dropped to us. Great memory.
People can debate whether it's worth bringing up again, but I think the point of this thread is absolutely correct - when 1 out of 5 first round picks has success with the team, that is a disgraceful record, and successes in later rounds don't change that. It is encouraging, at least, that this regime already has two first round players that, barring injury, should be among the best players at their positions for a while to come.
Are you serial? I already mentioned Rhodes whoppee 1 out of 20 to 30. Pretty good evulations skills huh? All the rest are laughable especially the Nugent reference since PK are a dime a dozen. Miller what has he contributed to the D. Crotch maybe a good #3 or with some oil squeak him up to 2. Baker & Hobson are very, very low tier players. In fact did we not let Hobson go?
Champ, Cotch had 82 receptions for 1130 yrds on a 4-12 team with two QBs who aren't the answer and never will be- thats pure personal talent with no one helping you, you have to admit thats damn impressive. He's no #1, but hes not a #3. Yes his TD catches were rare, but he isn't our Red Zone guy.... well we were never in the red zone to have a red zone guy so we will not count his td catches.
A grown man saying "are you serial" is both pathetic and gay. And what exactly are "evulation" skills?
our points combined are the right answer, and i didn't articulate my thought correctly, so i agree with you and thats what i should have wrote. Moss was always good, i know that. His stats proved his talent once he got to a team with a Cannon arm QB that could utilize his deep threat ability, rather than slants and comeback routes.
You forgot to add Harris to the list of perennial pro-bowlers - after all the picks we traded away for him he might as well be a first rounder.
