    From PAbe's blog... Rubenstein's statement:

“We noticed that the NY Post wrote a fun and interesting story about a t-shirt today — but it never happened,” it said. “Yankee fans know that burying something in concrete in the basement is never a good thing. Memo to the Post: You’re 10 days late for April Fool’s Day.”

I don't want to know why Yankee fans would know something like that.

This started out as an article about curses and something dawned on me earlier today. I know this is absolute sacrilege from one of the biggest Yankee fans here but could Donnie Baseball have been a curse on the Yankees?

They never won a world series in the 14 years he played. That and the few years before he started made it the longest stretch in Yankee history without a title. The year after he retires we win it again and 4 out of the next five years in total.

The last WS we played in was 2003 and after the season was over he was named batting coach for 2004. We all know what happened in 2004 and ever since.

I never really thought about it until I started thinking about all the championships the team had won.

    Anyway, just asking....haha.

Not winning a World Series for whatever period of time doesn't mean your team is cursed, it means you didn't win the World Series because somewhere along the line, someone fucked up.

It's funny how the awful small market teams that no one cares about are never the victims of any of these curses. Weird how these things only seem to effect whiny, self-important, entitled feeling fanbases in large markets.

Wouldn't have it any other way. That's why the large markets are large and why nobody cares about anything else.

Murrell, please. Yes the Sorx are the current champs, but they are inferior in every way to the Yankees. The Yankees made them a laughing stock for nearly 100 years. after 86 years they finally win one,and everybody attention was brought to how pathetic a franchise it is. Now,already between them and the pats the country fukin hates boston. You can't be the yankees. And a stupid shirt isn't going to make it happen.

Terrible pitching is why the Yankees didn't win while Donnie played.

A total lack of offense and far hungrier teams beat us when he was a coach.

You're not the first to talk about the curse of Donnie Baseball, surely not the last, and no matter who discusses it, it will always remain a silly argument.

There is no curse. They just need a new Dan Pasqua and they will start winning again.

So I suppose this shirt is going to make all of the Yankees management racist and incomptent?

As for the whole "Boston is better!" "No New York is better, Boston Sucks!" "2004" argument, I will say this. While there is no debating the Yankees edge in historical success, the Sox have the edge this decade. And I am very, very happy that Hank Steinbrenner is calling the shots in New York. The pressing desire to become an uber team every year can be very, very dangerous and I just pray to god that Hank cuts Cashman afer this year. Cashman understands the value building up a strong farm system and the importance of letting guys past their prime go even when it's hard. I'm not sure Hank does.

What has he done so far to make you think that? His term started with NOT going after Johan and keeping our youth in the pitching staff.
And as far as historical success, what the Yankees have is far more than an edge.

After watching Wang 2-hit the Bosox last night, if this is a Red Sox curse...then throw in the pants, too!

If you Bosox fans need help burying things, maybe these folks can help...

His craziness with the Joe Torre situation and his desire to get Girardi because he has more "fire in his bely" makes me thing that he is like his dad.

I had heard/read things earlier suggesting that Cashman is calling the personnel shots right now, so given Hank's eccentricity I find it hard to believe that he was the levelheaded guy that decided to hold on to prospects.

And okay, fine the Yankees have MUCH more historical success but apparently I need to make my wording to sufficiently indicate the overwhelming dominance of the Yankees for all Yankees fans here in order to give due respect to such a glorious franchise.

Craziness? Cashman was the one who wanted Girardi. And he was right to get him. Torre was done in NY.

Actually, there is more to it than that. Hank and Hal have an agreement that no major decisions will be made unless both are in complete agreement. Hank wanted Santana and Hal was worried about the contract and voted no. That's hy he isn't playing in the Bronx. It had nothing to do with Cashman.
