Someone tell me more about this kid and if the Jets should possibly consider him at 6.

hes worth the money but he's just not the need. We have guards. We really need the skill position guy. He could go to the Chiefs or Pats- all the way to the mid teens. Expect him gone in the 15 picks.

All Pro kind of guy, but not what we need right now.

He?s a great G, doesn?t really have a weakness. Many think he could become a great T, too (6?6 310lbs, or something like that). Wouldn?t be shocked, to see him go to the pats at #7.

I don?t think we should consider any OL at #6. No, not even Jake Long.

Definitely not a top 10 pick. If NE were to beef up the OL they would take Clady, not a guard.

Let's assume for now that Albert is worthy of being a top 10 pick. Drafting him at the 6th spot would give us another top-notch O-lineman who could play multiple positions. Isn't versatility one of the traits treasured by this CS/FO?

The guy definitely is shooting up many boards and some even consider him the No.2 tackle prospoect in this draft. He certainly has all the attributes you look for in a tackle. I wouldn't be disappointed if he manages to be our man.

Nobody is going to take him in the top 15 to play guard...he is climbing up draft boards because his potential at left tackle, he may play guard or right tackle his rookie season to adjust to the pros, but if he is taken that high...teams expect him to be their future left tackle.

With that said, I think he'll be a great pro where ever you stick him on the line.

He's a black Steve Hutchinson...one of my favorite players in the draft...before Mayock brought him up and he started blowing up I was hoping for him in the 3rd to reunite him with D'Brick...intelligent...hard working...excellent physical skills...very well coached at Virginia...potential to play LT...

He also did an interview with Scott Wright on NFLDC...wants to be a LT as a pro and compared himself to Walter Jones.

I found this in the blog on draftdaddy.com:

"While many think taking Branden Albert in the top 10 is crazy,
I know 50 percent of scouts think he can play left tackle and
make an impact there in the N.F.L. Also, a key N.F.C. executive
recently told me if Steve Hutchinson and Leonard Davis can be
paid $50 million to play offensive guard, then taking a prospect
like Albert in the top ten makes sense for teams that need an
immediate line boost....Some think the New York Jets way overpaid
for Alan Faneca and they still need to shore up the middle and
offensive tackle, so drafting Albert at #6 overall could solve all
    their offensive line needs."

Interesting thought. I can't wait for the draft.

Well we already have a left tackle so could he play right tackle?

I think Albert at #6 is excessive. However, if they were to trade out of the top 10, I would not have an issue with taking him.

I agree, I wouldn't want to draft another OL player that high in the draft. Sure with someone like Brandon Albert we might end up with a dominant OL, but we would still have gaping holes in the secondary and at WR, not to mention the massive need for a pass rush.

Branden could very well be picked by the Chiefs at #5. I've heard from good sources that many teams are looking at him as a LT prospect.

The argument for Branden is this:

He's talented. He's big and mean. Physical + athletic is coveted.

Branden has more starts than Jeff Otah.

He's faced better competition than Ryan Clady.

And he's more physical than Chris Williams.

He's one of the more interesting players in this draft. He's huge, although I think I read he's slimmed down a bit. What's unique about Albert is that he moves around so well for a big man. Versatile linemen are sought after in the draft and I think he could be a top ten pick. Even if he can't play LT (which many think he can) he is by far the top guard prospect in this year's draft.

The difference is, all of those names already played at LT. I think Albert is a great prospect, and i think he could become a good LT, but if i were a Chiefsfan, i would have a bad feeling picking a guy in the top 5, who played G und College, to become the Franchise-LT at the pros.

I think i read somewhere, that he is down to about 315 from 340.

He did play 2 games at LT in college but your point is well taken that he doesn't have much experience at the position.

The Chiefs could start him at RT or even LG if they wanted. Damion McIntosh is competent at LT.

If Albert got to mini-camp and looked great at LT, then move McIntosh.

Another thing to love about Albert is that if he flops at OT, he can slide back into G and still have a chance to be a very good player. A guy like Robert Gallery flopped at OT and has become an okay G, but nothing special.
