We have a shot a Chris Long says Mayock of the NFL Network.
Word is Miami is leaning towards Jake Long at #1.In fact 4 scouts told him Jake Long will be the pick at #1.STL wanted Jake Long, so with no OT available the could choose Dorsey who Kiper Jr. says will go to STL reagardless and Mayock.
So with that ATL will probably be forced to either trade out, if they cant Matt Ryan will be the pick.

That leaves Oakland with 3 possible choses
Long, McFadden, and Gholston, most likely they will choose McFadden.KC ends up being really screwed in this situation. If they stay they either take Ellis, Albert or Clady.

So with that we end up having a chose between Long or Gholston, we'd probably go with Long which i have no problem with

I really don't see that happening at all.

I do believe Miami will be selecting Jake Long, but why would STL pass on this kid?

They are in desperate need of a DE.

Why wouldn't Al Davis take the son of an Oakland legend? He would in a heartbeat. Especially when it is a greater need than a RB. Even if they did somehow in a fit of stupidity pass on him why wouldn't KC take him? I think if the first two picks play out that way there will be a flurry of activity from teams trying to trade up even though that will be highly unusual. We may be one of them. I also think Gholston is about to start falling. There is more and more talk that he is not worth a top 5 pick despite his combine workout. He just disappears too many days.

Man, i hate that scenario. As much as i would love to get C.Long, leaving either Long or Gholston for the Pats is a horror scenario.

Maybe they want to bounce Carriker outside to his natural DE position?

Yeah, there isn't a team in the NFL that couldn't use Chris Long. He could play DE in a 3-4, DE in a 4-3 or OLB in a 3-4.

Carriker had pedestrian season at DT, so i can imagine them wanting to do that and putting a real DT there with the size speed and tenacity. With Carriker on the outside, Dorsey makes a lot more sense than long.

Rumors are just that, Rumors. Also I wouldnt be overly surprised at all if the top 5 were to go as such

    Phins- Jake Long
    Rams- Glenn Dorsey
    Falcons- Vernon Gholston
    Raiders- Darren Mcfadden
    Cheifs- Ryan Clady/ Branden Albert

Rams want to move Carriker back outside. Falcons could go for the physical specimen in Gholston over Chris Long, Raiders are owned by Al Davis, and they want to solidify the running game for their (hopefully for them) young superstar in the making in Jamarcus Russel, the chiefs have to go OL or at least do with Sedrick Ellis or Matt Ryan, they have one stud DE in Jared Allen, so they need to fill a position of need elsewhere. leaving the Jets to Chris Long. Now granted I definately could see the Falcons taking Long over Gholston, but like i have said before, I wouldnt be surprised in the least if Gholstons insane physical tests leapfrogged him over Chris Long. meaning since Gholston was likely to fall to 6, the guy he leapfrogged could easily fall to 6.

If this is the general feeling among GMs Gholston falls. They say he's not even worth a top 5 pick.

  10. B.c Their first roundd pick from last year, Adam Carriker is a natural strong side DE who has been forced to play NT due to neccessity. Drafting a guy like dorsey allows Carriker to move back to his natural position.

Also, there is no doubt in my mind the raiders would select Chris Long if he's there at # 4. He fills a need, Rob Ryan will LOVE him in their scheme, and obviously he already has the raider bloodline.

They could move Carriker back to defensive end, and Leonard Little can still get the job done. I think it would be stupid for them to pass on Chris Long too.

La'Roi Glover is solid at DT...but he's OLD. Glenn Dorsey makes just as much sense as Chris Long does.

Chris Long is the better prospect, it just depends on the Rams' FO.

  12. Actually, IMO....if Dorsey is healthy..he's a better prospect than Long.

I think they?re pretty even, Dorsey might have a edge if healty. Carriker weight about 290 when comming into the League, he bulked up about 20 lbs to play the NT and did a good Job. It just depends on what you like mor, Carriker at NT and Long at end or Dorsey at DT and Carriker at end. It?s a win-win situation, because both options are good.

btw. Carriker would make one heck of a 34 DE. When roumors were that we would trade up, last year, i so much hoped it was for him.

edit: haven?t there been roumors that the Rams will switch to a 34? If they are true, C.Long is the Pick without a doubt. Carriker and Long on one side would really make a great duo off the edge.

Chris Long secretly hates Al Davis.

He doesn't drop to six. If he isn't outright drafted by the first five teams someone will trade up for him. We don't get the chance at six.

Most likely they will choose McFadden? You based that off nothing.

There is no way that the Raiders draft anyone ahead of Chris Long if he's available.

I agree with that nightmare scenario, but it won't happen, at least I pray it won't. Long is an impressive player, but I have yet to see seriously impressive tape on him, whereas there are libraries of Gholston's demonic-like performance all over.

Yeah that is a major factor, thats why i originally thought they would for sure choose either Chris Long or Gholston. But the head coach Scott Linehan is in a make or break year, he would like the 3-4 player but they front office might overrule him.
