Hayes carried a late 2nd round to early 3rd grade for me, in a 4-3 defense where he can be a playmaker and work in coverage
I had sent a 5-player draftboard to WW85 earlier tonight. I wasn't sure if I'd be here when the 97th pick rolled around. Turns out none of my 5 guys were chosen with the 4 picks before mine. So I got the top guy I wanted in Shawn Crable. I did consider putting Hayes on my board, but I thought Crable was a better fit for the Bengals. Hayes had issues at FSU and I don't think the Bengals want another guy like that. The Bengals would likely use Crable as a 3-4 rush linebacker. He was a team captain at Michigan last year and does not seem to be a bum off the field.
ATLANTA FALCONS 1. DT Glenn Dorsey 2. QB Joe Flacco 2. ILB Dan Connor 2. TE Dustin Keller 3. OT Anthony Collins 3. WR Jerome Simpson
Crable was an excellent pick, cakes I'm Glad he was there for you because I didn't need another linebacker I needed to draft a wideout and I really wanted Simpson in that spot
I liked the Crable and Simpson picks alot. After a week, day 1 is done. Sick stuff, much better rate than last year's I think. Hopefully it doesnt slow down in rds 4-7.
Even though this is a mock draft, who else doesn't like it that the Patriots have a good draft so far?
The Rams have multiple needs, their Roster looks like a piece of Swiss Cheese. I've never been a GM of a Team that looks so void of talent. I can't reach for my greatest need at this point, the players aren't there. Therefore, I just took the BPA on my board...Kevin Smith. After Jackson, there is no depth at RB and Teams need to have two good RBs. Leonard is a good option at FB, but the addition of Smith will make a solid backfield.
ATLANTA FALCONS 1. DT Glenn Dorsey 2. QB Joe Flacco 2. ILB Dan Connor 2. TE Dustin Keller 3. OT Anthony Collins 3. WR Jerome Simpson 4. DB Tyvon Branch
Nice haul for the Falcons. Pittsburgh only had three picks so far but I like what I have been able to do with them: Rd 1. Gosder Cherilus OT Boston College Height: 6-6 3/8 Weight: 314 40-Time: 5.21 Has excellent size and a huge frame with long arms...Strong and powerful..Gets a great push as a run blocker...Decent athlete...Has nimble feet..Mobile and can get to the second level...Very smart with great awareness...Nice balance...He is stout at the point of attack...Once he locks on the battle's over...A hard worker with top intangibles...Has a ton of experience against top-notch competition...Offers some versatility..Hails from a program that's known for producing NFL offensive linemen. Name is pronounced "GOZ-der SHARE-uh-luss"...Born in Haiti...A four-year starter in the ACC...Started 37 consecutive games at right tackle but he moved to the left side as a senior and had some struggles...Was arrested and charged with assault and battery in July of 2007 in connection with a bar fight, although Cherilus claims he was acting as a peacemaker...Not flashy but has the physical tools and should start almost immediately..Prototypical right tackle who should enjoy a long career. Rd 2. Early Doucet WR LSU Height: 6-0 1/8 Weight: 209 40-Time: 4.59 Great natural athlete...Has good size and a solid frame...Quick with a burst...Has excellent hands...Very strong and tough...Elusive and it is difficult to tackle him in the open field...Good vision and runs well after the catch...Terrific blocker...A hard worker...Has been a deep threat in college...Can also contribute as a return man. Was a top recruit coming out of high school...Finally got an opportunity to start as a senior after being stuck behind future first round picks Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis...Might never be a true #1 target at the next level but could thrive in a role similar to the one he excelled in at LSU...Profiles as a #2 or slot option in the NFL. Rd 3. Orlando Scandrick CB Boise St Height: 5-10 Weight: 192 40-Time: 4.32 Adequate size and bulk...Outstanding timed speed...A good athlete..Hips are very fluid and he flips them well to turn and run...Has quick feet...Good ball skills...Can also contribute on special teams...Is tough and physical...Has a ton of experience. Was a three-year starter..Ran the second fastest forty time for a corner at the '08 Scouting Combine...Has a knack for blocking kicks and could also work as a return man...Press / Man cover guy with excellent triangle numbers...Really put his name on the map with great workouts...Has starting potential and just might be a steal.
Ehh, I thought the Rams would snatch Royal(Great pick by Oakland BTW) right up since they lost their 2nd best WR Bruce in the offseason and dont have any big time guy upcoming if I am not mistaken. Dont know if they go with RB in the draft. Dont mean to sound so critical about just the Rams, just I wasnt sure about the pick WW85. I did hope Smith would come to CHI though, hes a very good player and can handle heavy amounts of carries if needed. Has his own youtube channel even. :rofl2:
I like the Royal pick and with his measurables I am sure Crazy Al would like him with their second pick in the draft, I am now off the board for quite a while because of no Raiders picks and not a Washington pick until the end of the 5th round, I actually had a few guys rated in the 4th that I would like for Washington but i am sure they will be gone by my next pick Althought not alot of big stars at the top this is a very deep draft I absolutely love the Skins draft so far and these 4 picks would make their defense strong for a very long time, Raiders is alright but for how many holes they have there is not alot of picks
BPA, BAKER, BPA .................Too many people reach for their needs.....not me. I know WR is a need since Bruce is gone, but Royal wasn't nearly as high on board as Kevin Smith. By far, Smith was my BPA. I defended my pick, St Louis has garbage after Jackson. Baker, I looked at it......Smith was a late 2 Rd /early 3rd RD on my board....Royal was in the area of a late 3rd......I just couldn't pass up a quality player like KS. When the Value is close, I always go for need, but when a certain player on my board stands out that hasn't been picked, I always consider it carefully. A GM can NEVER go wrong drafting the BPA eapecially when their is such a wide margin from your true need. Hope that makes some sense, each GM has a different philosphy, I'm not saying mine is right and your's is wrong, just different points of view.
Nice pickup with Eddie Royal in the 4th. IMO he warrants an early 3rd round pick in the draft this year... Again, I'm drafting a developmental QB... This time its Kevin O'Connell going to Baltimore. I love his potential though with a big arm, good athleticism and terrific size..
Baltimore already drafted a developmental QB with Troy Smith...I like Kevin O'Connell though. I just can't see the Ravens taking another QB.
