I agree completely. The only thing is that in the first round, I was really hoping DRC or McKlevin dropped, but they didn't, and I wasn't going to reach for Talib or Jenkins. In the 2nd round, I had targetted Cason and Flowers, but they both got taken. There was one other CB I ws considering who hasn't been taken yet, but I didn't feel he was muchv better than somebody I could potentially get in round 3. Once the 6 CBs I mentioned were off the board, I didn't feel like any of the remaining CBs represented great value or were significantly better than someone I could get possibly next round. Therefore, I took Simms, who I felt a) filled a big need and b) was great value.
I agree with your pick, although need is there for CB, after the top 5 (who I rank very closely in regards to draft position depending on team scheme, mid-late 1st rounders followed by Flowers who is a late round 2 for me or early round 2 in a cover 2 system) there is a drop to early round 3 status
First, Jenkins and Talib would have value that high up in the draft being the Saints first rounder. Secondly, I agree Simms had good value and filled a need. All I'm saying is what I've already said and I don't feel like retyping. I'm not attacking you. The entire purpose of these drafts is to debate out scenarios.
WW85, If MC hasn't been around in two days maybe something unexpected came up {hopefully not bad}, so I'm wondering if you should perhaps give his Eagles to a one team GM who wants a second team, maybe the GM who took Dallas would like to take Philly as well?
Hes a solid fit in DC, just there arent many teams hunting for DE's in this draft in a 4-3, thus why Campbell could very well fall into middle to late round 2. Bad senior year too, but I can defintely see Washington get TWO Miami(Fla) players. They love that school so it seems.....
THERE YOU GO MC hasn't been around in days {didn't make his 1st or 2nd RD Pick}, so maybe WW85 wants to make this switch? Thanks for volunteering, MrE .. now its WW's call
I couldn't disagree more about teams hunting for 4-3 DE. Yes more teams are foolishly pursuing the 3-4 and writing players like Campbell, but after what the Giants did last season, I think you may see more teams eyeing pass rushers and Calais may be a potentially great NFL player.
It just seems everyone has their guy as far as DE's go and have tons of money invested in them. Even the worse teams like KC and Atlanta and Oakland have their DE rotation set with some solid players(Allen, Abraham, Burgess). Alot of teams also want versitility nowadays so it seems, both on offense and defense and teams will take a DE/OLB in any system over a DE and thus why guys like Long, Gholston and Groves are so highly looked at. Same with Kiwanuka who got picked by NYG last year.
Most teams may have 2 starters, but you are forgetting the Giants ran 4 DEs at teams, all of which could have started for half the teams in the league.
I am very happy with my Campbell pick, I had been watching for him to pop off the board since early round 2, perfect for Washington
Time is up for Tampa Bay. If someone could make their pick I will make my selection for the Steelers.
