http://www.boston.com/sports/footba...03/31/patriots_to_bring_mcfadden_in_for_talk/ Do they really consider him? I really hope someone infront of us takes away the decition between DMC and Gholston, and only one of them drops to us. I would hate to see either one wear that ugly Blue/Silver/Red-Jersey.
who do patsfan think they target, if Gholston is gone? I still don?t think they go CB that early, they simply don?t need that talented CBs in their system. Harvey?
I don't watch college football, and know very little about the draft board. It just strikes me that the Patriots wouldn't be thrilled about paying the contract for a high round, skill position player. If I were a betting man, I would say that they are drawing attention to him in the hopes that someone else will grab him, and the player they are really shooting for may slip. Drafting a skill player in the top 10 just isn't their way anymore...unless it's a good Tight End, of course. It wouldn't shock me at all if they drafted a CB. Samuel and Gay are outta here, Hobbs, gets pwned sometimes...why not? I would.
This can only help the Jets. If Mc Fadden falls to 5, and there is someone behind the Pats who wants him, thinking the pats have some interest in him, which I don't think they do, might spur them to give up more then they would like to come and get him at 6
It's funny cause 2 months ago this might have triggered another ZOMG the sky is falling post. I kinda miss that.
You know, all this talk about "Draft Due Diligence" is interesting. Oh not from the standpoint of smokescreens, trying to outfox other teams on the draft is school boy stuff. I think, on the other hand, that these meetings are looking for tendencies, strengths, and weaknesses. Not necessarily to make a pick-em decision. These tendencies will help your team to play against these guys when they get on the field. Your seasoned watchers find out what to watch for. "He sets up a half-step quicker when he's going to run-block." "This guy likes to go right better than left." "This guy has a temper and you can get him to lose it." There's probably a lot the team's watchers learn when they get up close with a player like that.
ESPN actually reported it on NFL Live as if a team with a top 10 pick bringing in a Top 10 prospect was news. I can't remember hearing about the number of other teams McFadden is visiting getting any press for it though.
