sheesh...totally missed that. I agree, if we are still picking at 6 and all of them are gone we have to pray for a trade. Problem is who will trade up? They all know there is nobody there we care about so we will make a reach down to get somebody we can at least use. That means they may make a trade with NE instead and we get screwed by them again. (so for the umpteenth time I don't believe for a second we will stay at 6..no way..no how..no chance..we move up or down before the draft but we DON'T stay at 6)
ok i posted about our 1st round pick to the lions for roy williams and their 1st round pick, and i agree that it probably wont happen, but maybe we add 1 of our 4rths it would close the deal??
Wide Receiver Wide Receiver, id rather not have Dorsey even though he is an explosive player. I'd like to trade that pick as much as possible
Yeah. For the sake of the thread no trading down. Or if you offer up a trade down senario also offer one where no one bites like most have been doing. VG has been all over the place. Some see him in the top 5 some in the teens. At this point, if I were the Jets, I'd take Dorsey. Sure not a perfect fit but still better than DRob. CBs are getting very expensive and with the Jets already taking Revis last year I'd doubt they'd invest 1st round money into the same position twice. Especially #6 money. That is a lot of money tied into CB position. I just don't see it.
rodgers- cromartie would be my pick if it went that way. not only would it fill a need, but i really think he's gonna be a big time player.
no no no, we do not repeat cbs in first round, we need to try to trade up 2 places to oakland to re-assure we get our trouble making running back to get the offence going and media stirring
I have a gut feeling the Falcons will go defense and snatch up Dorsey. But if this scenario did play out, then I would have to say Derrick Harvey or Leodis McKelvin
Gholston is overrated he had 37 tackles this year compare that to chris Long who had 79.Im not saying he isnt gonna be a good player i just think he shoulld be our pick, he reminds me of Mark Anderson a situational type pass-rusher. Id rather pick Cromartie or Mendenhall
if we're stuck at 6 its harvey or malcom kelley.both are slotted just out of the top ten but they'd filll major needs.i like kelley a little more here simply because coles is in for 2 more for sure and gives kelly 2 years as the 3rd wr and would come on strong in his 3rd year when most wr breakout.
Agreed, I think there are a lot more viable trade down options for Dorsey/Ellis than there are for Ryan or even McFadden (don't buy the Dallas rumors). In a way I think it's better if Dorsey goes in the top 5 instead of Ryan since I think teams such as Cincy and NO are less likely to trade up to 6 if both DTs are on the board.
The exact same situation as my draft. I had us taking McKelvin but if we're seriously looking at a half back in that spot and not just at McFadden I would not be upset with Mendenhall. The guy is built like a tank with a 4.45/40 (I think I got that number from ESPN insider). He doesn't have the moves like McFadden to make people miss in space but he's a beast on the inside and that's exactly how our team is geared right now. He's worth a top ten. If we do manage to pull off a trade, it'll probably be a trade down with the Bengles or trading up with the Falcons. The latter one will cost too much and the only reason that I'm bringing it up is because they cut Grady Jackson halfway through the season and cut Rod Coleman before/during the FA period (can't remember), and would need a tackle. Then again, they wouldn't be reaching too far if they took either Dorsey or Ellis at that spot either since they could pick up Brohm or Flacco in the second round and sure up the QB spot. The Bengles failed twice in trading for a DT so they could move up to make sure they can get either one, especially if the Falcons go DT at #3. Of course the biggest obsticle to any top 10 trade was put best by Jerry Jones, "A team can get crippled, and I mean seriously crippled, from a financial standpoint by being up there in the top five or six. It's a real negative. "Nobody wants in there, and the teams in there, they want out. This is a very tough draft anyway when it comes to evaluating the talent, and then trying to match up that with the millions it takes to operate at the top of the draft."
Enough of this Roy Williams trade talks in crazy talk... not only is this a crazy stretch but why would they trade Williams and a first for our first anyways it seems like a lot to give up value chart/madden(dumb) whatever your comparing it to.
Somebody will want Dorsey and be willing to trade up to get him. If there are no trade up partners, I take Otah, Brandon Albert or the highest rated CB.
Nobody will trade up with us if Ellis and Dorsey are the only players left. Why should they? They know we won't take them. NE won't take them. Baltimore won't take them. We all play the 3-4. They can wait a long time if they are interested in either of them before making a trade. If it plays out like this the Jets are screwed, plain and simple.
I would take dorsey, then try to trade him after we pick him. If worst comes to worst we keep him at de
Unless you don't think Glenn Dorsey has a chance to excell at 34DE, you have to take him if the board fell that way, you have to take that value, especially when we can really use an upgrade at 34DE, you can even call it a need However, if you don't think Glenn Dorsey can excell at 34DE, or Sedrick Ellis either, I would take Rashard Mendenhall Having said that, I think Dorsey has a better shot to excell at 34DE than Sed Ellis, so for me it comes down to Dorsey or Mendenhall .. tough call because I'm not sure Dorsey can excell at 34DE, not as confident as I am that Mendenhall will be an elite franchise Running Back, but its one or the other Dark Horse: DE/OLB Derrick Harvey
1st?? Time to start looking for a new sport to watch... NY arena football anyone? I do have a feeling though the Jets are going to do something nobody expects, either drafting a surpriser or trading down (which wouldn't surprise a lot of us but still a huge move). Depending on how it works out will determine how long Tangini are in NY
