i think you may be onto something.

if the player(s) we want won't be there at #6, and the value is no good at that point - meaning, no one after those top players are worth that pick - then maybe we have to trade up to ensure we get one of them.

obviously, trading down is better long term, but what if there aren't any takers? then we're stuck settling on a player at #6 who isn't worth that pick and who we may not really want.

usually, i'm with BradwaySux in that i'm against trading up because history has shown that it often leads to disaster; but perhaps this year, it'll be both easier and more beneficial to trade up, depending on how those first 3 to 4 picks unfold.

im kinda busy right now, but it'd be interesting if someone posted the possible scenarios in which the players we want are gone and we're stuck settling. for example, if the players we want are selected and someone like Matt Ryan or Glen Dorsey (who wouldn't fit our scheme) are sitting there AND we can't trade down; and we're on the clock. then what? reach?

are you kidding? I won't argue King's douche factor, but if he miraculously is available when the JETS pick, they should grab him.

Move Woody to guard, bench (or dump Moore) and watch the whole offense improve and by next year RBs will run wild

The more I think about it, the more Gholston makes sense.

On O, we have Thomas Jones. We have the makings of a great O Line anchored by Mangold and Faneca. Savvy and tough FB in Richardson. Our running game should be very solid next yr based on this.

We need a big time impact guy on Defense. A disruptor and Gholston seems like the guy. I have no problen taking McFadden yet I think the need for Gholston is even greater. Put him alongside Pace, Ellis, Harris, Revis and Rhodes and we now look like a legit D.

Then we grab a big WR in round 2 and a CB.

I know OL is no longer the most pressing need, but if Jake Long is there at #6, it's an absolute no brainer to take him.

There's something called quality depth and it's something we lack on about 70% of our roster. I wouldn't mind seeing us take Gholston or Chris Long if they fall (well, I'd be pretty happy actually) and I'm torn about McFadden... but if Jake Long somehow falls to us you have to take him.

Saying that we wouldn't take him because we signed Woody for that spot doesn't make sense to me. It's a unit that Bradway neglected for 5 years and that makes it a unit we need to pay special attention to, especially after the performance we saw this year. Woody can play multiple positions on the line, and while he will probably be an upgrade at RT, having Jake Long at RT and Woody in rotation with Moore at RG and Long at RT would give us a gigantic upgrade on the O-line and that would take our offensive trench from one of the worst in the league in 07 to one of the best in '08... although I feel kind of dirty agreeing with Don.

However, I think Jake Long making it to the 6 pick is a pipe dream, so it's probably a moot point.

I wouldn't mind it if the picks prior to ours played out like that.
