My buddy's brother is a Grad Assistant coach for the Cal golden Bears and he said Desean Jackson is another Pac-Man Jones type personality. Supposedly Tedford told Jackson to go pro early because he wasn't welcome back at Cal. Not that he wasn't going to go pro anyway.

Just some inside gossip I thought was interesting.

We take McKelvin or Gholston at 6 and then at #36 its anyones guess waht we do- WR, S, LB, DE, OL ???

Tangini will go big on defense because theyre defense minded and they understand that our defense is a couple impact players away from becoming an elite unit. The wide receiver position can be addressed in 2009.

You can't compare someone to Pac-Man. DeSean Jackson has never been in serious trouble. Tedford is a douche-bag. He made a lot of promises to Fresno's players and he dropped them as soon as he was offered a better job.

i think the perfect situation would now be trade down and grab a 2nd rounder, then go.
    1st-cb
    2nd wr
    2nd OT-OG
    fill in the rest.

The problem starts if the 3 guys we would most certainly take are all gone by 6(DMC, Gholston, C. Long) If that does happen there really isn't anyone that fits our team and is really worth the 6 spot. If that does happen and we can't trade out we are going to be forced to take someone who might not be worth the 6th spot but would fill a big need.

I would take Limas Sweed in that scenario over one of the CBs..I am starting to think there could be a market for the 6th spot if both or even better if one of the DTs is still available. I can see one of the teams in the 9-15 range willing to move up for one of them.

    Isn't Sweed injury prone?

Which is why I prefer Malcolm Kelly and James Hardy early on, with Marcus Monk available in the later rounds.

He's frail? Why, because he's skinny? Limas Sweed is big, but he's the one that's "frail". You ever heard of Chad Johnson? He's pretty small, and no one knocks him for being frail.

DeSean Jackson is the most versatile receiver in this draft because of his speed and moves. I will shit if the Jets draft a wideout at 6, but if they trade down...I would like to see a wideout taken with our first 2nd rounder. Someone will slip: James Hardy, DeSean Jackson, or Devin Thomas. Thomas or Hardy would be a favorite pick, because they have height...something this team's lacked since Keyshawn Johnson.

While comparing Jackson to Pacman is probably a little unfair, IIRC Pacman did not have any legal issues while at WVU.

I don't see Rivers as a fit. He looks like a good middle linebacker like Vilma.I like Mcelvin or Cromartie.

Jackson at #6 is just as bad as Ginn going #9 overall last year.

Quick little update. Kirwan did a mock on the Sirius NFL Channel today. The big surprise was KC taking Ryan at #5, I can't argue with the rationale either. Their QB's right now are Croyle and Huard. He had us taking Gholston and the Pats taking McElvin. Also he had Louisvile QB Brian Brohm on and asked him who seemed the most interested. He said the Jets put him through a 4 hour test. I'm glad the Jets are doing their homework and I wouldn't be totally against drafting Brohm(if he's there) and trading Chad to KC for a 3rd rounder. I think Herm has to save his job.

yeah but no one comes into the league as a hall of famer. But I think that this offseason we have addressed most of the major concerns. However, we really have not addressed the passing game, ok Franks but he is more of a backup. I would prefer Kelly or Sweed because he seems to be a more complete player than Jackson who is tall and a fast guy who can really stretch the field. I would only go receiver if and only if both Gholston, Chris Long, and Mcfadden are off the board but that is an emergency situation.

2 later round WR's I like are Jordy Nelson and Dexter Jackson. Jackson I like as a slot threat, and could be a weapon in a short passing game. We could use him as a Welker type(reminds me a little of Santana Moss). Jordy Nelson reminds me of Cotchery, a high end athlete that will get better, he could turn into a #2.

Jackson is someone that everyone is forgetting about. The kid may have played in a spread offense with a really mobile QB, but he's money. I actually have him as my 9th receiver in the draft, between Caldwell and Royal. He reminds me of Stuckey from last year. He isn't just fast in a straight line but amazingly quick out of his cuts and he has good hands. He'll be a steal for someone.

It seems like there are a ton of good receivers in this year's draft. I say we use our 2nd rounder on one. Is it possible that Sweed will be there, then?
